Another Soch VS Doch ?!
Mine are smaller then that and making 308 rwhp at 11.5:1 fuel ratio.chunkhead wrote:510cc injectors will NOT make 300Bhp! Maybe 250Bhp. Just not big enough i'm afraid!
It all depends on how good the injector drivers are in the ECU! Wolf Ver 4 has very strong injector drivers. This means they open very fast and close fast, there for delevering more fuel!

Individual mindset is the difference for opinions.
'cheap' has/can be done. 3-400hp starion 2.6 sohc proven on u.s. forums, using $600 ecu and $4-600 turbos. Good megasquirt examples there as well as lots of options. Even stock cam/block/motor standouts (won't get any cheaper than that).
Lower revving motors = less stress, more reliable.
Same approach "should" work equally well on the 2L.
Requires more effort & research on your part, so you can be realistic when you set your limits & goals. Rather than listen to 'perception' you'll see what actually works from what doesn't.
Hard to say what HP an injector can/cannot make.
Fuel pressure has significant impact on what hp an injector supports.
We have an sxoc ca18det clubmember @293bhp from his stock 370cc, no hi fuel pressure either.
Another point to remember is that the sohc powerband will rarely see over 6500rpm.
Why not use of the whole 4g64 sohc motor ??

What are cheap parts ? Eagle rods and crank are cheap.
I`ve made a "wish" list from a 4G63 parts dealer in US, and picked everything brand new, incl new ported head new cams, fuel pump, intake and throttle body, ecu (haltech) turbo (garret GT) cam gears, headgasket, new oil and water pump, injectors (650cc) and fuel rail.
All these parts are top of line performance names like Garret, Aeromotive, AEM, Crower and Haltech.
And still could get the price up to more than 8500US$ wich should add up to about 10 000AUS$ and thats all NEW parts!
Forgot that i picked a oil cooler and intercooler to :)
Don`t want to argue with u guys but just seem to have trouble getting the numbers to mach up
Think im going with the Dohc setup since i don`t need the engine running before the next spring :)

Ask people who have done it. Depends on how "flash" you want your engine bay to look. I can tell you ive spent way over 10k but its going to be a show quality car. And only best parts were used.
-JA Starion with JD bits , Forged engine, Heaps of mods (parked up)
-BFII XR6 Turbo Ute , Here comes 400hp for 2k :p
-77 Mazda 323 drag car. 13bt rotary project.
Yes i have too many toys.

It's all well and good to go and buy the parts, but who says they are going to make power? Engines don't work like that! It's not always the biggest and the best, it's how the parts fit and work together.
Also, in your price you haven't quoted for somebody to BUILD the engine either! Are you just going to whip it up in your back garden and hope that all your parts make power? Who's going to tune your engine? Have you set a goal (HP)?
I think there is a lot of wishful thinking...

Good luck Sigve I admire your never say die attitude :beerSigve_B wrote:Hmm...
Don`t gonna argue with u, so just gonna se what happens if i get done someday i will let u know about my results:)
And putting an engine together isn`t that difficult. But the tuning off course cant be done in your back yard..

Since your going custom manifolds anyway so you will need a computer, you might as well use a dohc head.
I would just get it running (without the wish list) then worry about the big money bits later. Like you say they are not hard to work on.

hi everyone, sorry that iam repeating the question but my english is sometimes not enough to understand complicate discussions on this forum
I have starion in poland in very good condition of body and engine
car is mint, no smoke, no rust, no leak
I wanna convert head from sohc into dohc
I have got possibility to buy all evo1-2-3 engine parts
what is the main problem of that convertion?
can anyone do the list of probllems 4 me ?
can anyone do the list of parts necessary to swap?

Regarding the ECU, i don't think megasquirt is the way to go..
Why don't you try a KMS ECU.
http://kms.vankronenburg.nl/
We've just used it on a 30`000$ engine of a Lacia integrale at work, produced a safe 445hp (crank).
The ECU works VERY well, easy install, good price and fantastic support.
The company is in Netherlands..
Compared to different standalone ECU`s, this one proved that the self learning lambda control worked spot on!!!
