L300 plenum inlet

Post by iXNAY »

hey guys,

been pulling stuff off the staz to fix a few things.

and was thinking about modifying the L300 plenum so that it faces the front!

was going to cut off the t/b after where it joins the plenum then was going to cut and weld it to the front.

has anyone done this?

thinking about it too will it be ok with air flow cause it wont be as smooth as standard setup but because its forced induction will it cause much drama?

any suggestions would be good :)

regards
Ryan

Yes U R right about KITTs manifold . Mine is somewhat similar except that it is custom from the joint with bellmouths inside the 4 inch diameter plenum. This makes 4 a larger volume as the l300 is quite small.Maybe Toys can enlighten us on the pros & cons of this

i used a length of tubing that i flattened out, this is a better way than modifying the original plenum. just cut a little way out around the part where the ports meet the plenum, and blend it in from there. that way u dont need to make new bellmouths as they already have a bellmouth entry inside the plenum, thats quite ok once u clean it up with a die grinder..

Both Bodeo's and DavidBek95 also have this setup. Both are making over 300Bhp atw.

Here's Bodeo's... (263Kw atw)

I like Bodeo's a little more because it isn't so thick. It looks like the FIP inlet.

kit's plenum is aluminium. what made u think it was stainless?? i have a really good metal polisher.. the base of it is powdercoated, was masked up then polished after. i used flattened out 150mm tubing for kit's as he wanted wow factor under the bonnet for car shows, which we certainly achieved.

kit's plenum volume is 4 litres, but this is on the high side for a street car. u would prob want 100mm tubing for yours, as most others use.

woody what the hells a FIP? have u been taking too much notice of the yank forums again? :wtf:

I hear mobs use plenum chambers with the volume of the actual engine capacity like 1.8 litre engine have 1.8 litre volumes plenums, this goes to the 2 litre size too my homie. Is 4 litres to big, also what about the rear section that is flat and not round.
