airbats801 wrote:how the hell do you pull a 1.6 60ft with open diff and no slicks? I take it you are running some street legal autox tires or something?
Yeah some luck was surely involved, all the other runs he did that day were in the 2.X 60ft zone.
Luck!!! "Lucky I found that extra grip and power... Maybe it was hiding in my ashtray all along..." LUCK????
I wouldn't be supprised if he staged his car with the rear wheels... expecially to have such a big difference in 60' times!!!
Or that is someone elses time slip... They can get mixed up...
I wonder if that car could ever get close again to that kind of 60' time?
Okay, so now your calling him a cheater, liar and the track officials stupid ?
A.I.R is a tempremental track.......
If you'se don't believe the 60ft time, then that's your problem :beer
Computer games don't affect kids I mean if PacMan affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music :D
It's the only run he had with a time like that, and he's got a vid of his car that night to prove the number on the slip was his car. Don't know about his diff, but i know he wasn't on slicks.
1.6`s usually gives my old galant a 12.55 to 12.00 et`s, with 1886LB`s
car weight 15x10" x26 M/T`s heres the old sh-tter
not at the drags but you can see what 5th gear full noise
looks like.
the best Ive had from any of our stazza`s is 14.6 @ 79 ???
but that was a good stocker with bolt on`s

Garrett GT2871R 390hp or 440hp ball bearing turbo
This turbo is the next step to the GT28RS Disco Potato with the same basic configuration but with a larger 71mm comp wheel.
These units are available in 48 and 56 trim, with the 56 trim rated at 440hp potential. They come with the .86 exhaust housing as standard, but can be optioned with the .64 housing subject to availability.

I was looking to get that turbo...
What trim do you have??
what exhaust housing do you have???
What would it be like on the street? Peeky power or broad range?
When does it start to make boost?
:beer
Its the 0.86 housing. The 36mm intake restrictor creates a big back pressure in the manifold and exhaust housing, so the larger exhaust housing was picked to help with the back pressure issues.
Its hard to comment on how it will go with no restrictor. With the 36mm restrictor it comes on hard at about 3800 rpm, the top end is heavily restricted by the restrictor. Have a look how the boost falls off casued by the restrictor http://img218.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picturevp6.jpg
I would say without the restrictor it would be the prefect turbo for street/race use and would have a very broad power curve. Remember thou my engine is 2.3ltr twin cam.

The only 1.6's i see is from very hard launcing V8's on big slicks. From memory even the EVO's and STI's are not even that quick off the line!
But if he did, good on him, well done

Some of the fastest 4WD US Mitsbishi's are doing 1.1sec 60ft times, but wait that's impossible too

On street tyres with an open diff? rofl rofl rofl rofl
Your post is useless in the context of this discussion.
The best 60' I have done on street tyres and open diff is 1.8 in my old RX7 s3 13BT. Much lighter car (1150kg race weight) with 211rwhp running 13.2@104mph on that pass.
Please register your vehicle details on the AUSTRALIAN STARION REGISTRY <HERE>
You guys have great quality tracks, quickest i've seen for rwd is 1.8
Thats a 10 second Batman running massive slicks. I can see why his 60 foot would be doubted though its a very impressive effort.
1985 Widebody Factory Four Wheel Steering
1986 Euro Spec-ABS,LSD etc
best 60 footer i've done in the orange starion before i fitted the LSD was a 1.878 on a 13.8 run. street tyres yes.. starions do tend to hook up very well even with an open diff, but 1.6 is definitely slick territory. i'd say it was a timing malfunction. it happens! i'm not doubting the ET though, only the 60 footer..
