2 nuts on each stud, and tightened them up REALLY (fully R.F.T spec) right against each other, until they were aligned. put a deep socket over both of them and screwed the stud out.
Be warned though, chances are you'll bugger at least one of the threads in the manifold :/. Only reason i did it is because i needed to get if faced anyway. Luckily a mate and I at work are on really good terms with an engine builders down the road, they faced it and put in a helicoil for bugger all.

Looking purdy now, the list of things to do is getting smaller!
1) Get alternator put back together. I cant figure out a way of holding the brushes back while putting the thing back together. No biggie.
2) Drop vac-advance/retard unit in to be reconn'd, its leaky as.
3) 2 o-rings, one for the distributor, one for the front of the turbo
4) fit flywheel (didn't even need machining, no stress cracks, its flat as), and h/duty clutch.
I love how the exhaust wrap turned out, looks the goods. Mint.

Just to get it going. I bought what was meant to be a tc06, but it turned out to be a tc05 with the 5 filed off and a 6 stamped on, the housings and wheel were identical to the ones on it now. I have that t3/4 with the .63 exhaust for when its run in though.
Asked a couple of the mechanics coming into work today, turns out there is a little hole you insert a piece of wire into in the back of the alternator, it holds the brushes back while you assemble it, and you pull it out and they pop into place.

Hey Zac,
You mentioned buying a TC06 but it was a TC05 with the '5' ground out and a '6' stamped on instead.
The Group A turbos were stamped that way. They had an 06 rear housing but the 05 front. Get it checked, you might have an 05/06 hybrid - great for the street :beer

Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.

Through an interesting sequence of events, I've come into possession of this:
Its a 1980 Sapporo GSR... A Starion wearing different clothes essentially. Now, i know I'm a fucking fruitcake at the best of times, and your all going to disown me... but to be honest, i prefer this shape to the Starion. I mean, come on, its pretty fucking bad-ass.
Picking up this car was a bit of a laugh... Driving it down the road was pretty, well, noisey. It goes "BANG BANG BANG KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK BANG BANG KNOCK KNOCK WHRRRRR *STALL*"... I suspect its thrown its balance shaft bearings and they're flapping around in there. Luckily the side of the road where i picked it up from was pretty close to my place. Now, i just happen to have that motor that I've built for my Starion... hmmmm.
Oh yes, yes indeed, this will be fun.
Don't fret however, as the building of the starion has not been given up on, i have a couple of other engines. Its been handed onto my best mate, whom i also flat with, it'll be a joint car at the end of the day, and a fucking wicked-ass one. But the Sapporo is all mine.
A couple of other piccies, yes the rear strut is bent, yes i have spares :).
Awesome.

I would do pretty much anything for a drive of his car.... You hear that Barney? ANYTHING.
Motor is almost read to jump out of its own accord... Im just stuck on removing the shifter surround... Its very similar to the starion ones, but the heater controls are built into it, so its tricky.... Maybe if i just lower the tranny enough i can get to the bolts from underneath. Once i finish my coffee and both my eyes are open i'll give it a shot.
PS: Being on holiday fucking kicks ass! I've actually got time to do, well, stuff. Awesome.

Air box is indeed fucking huge. Filters are entirely different, as is the shape of the AFM itself. It'll have to stay for the moment however. Makes running intercooler piping kinda impossible over that side, but thats far in the future anyways, i just need to get it running first. Motors out, new motor is ready to pop in this afternoon. Just waiting on the TC06 wheel and front cover, its all go.
Jeremy - Nah, probably heavier if anything i'd say. The wheel base is marginally longer. Pillarless electric windows fucking own tho ;). Oi, drop your CV into work if your still keen... We've had a few candidates, times running out.
