Which parts fit on both the 2l and the 2.6l?

Post by lindahl »

I thought about buying some parts from Top End Performance, but I´m not sure if they will fit on my European 2l widebody Starion. The parts I´m thinking about is the performance camshaft, Race Pressure Pro-Grip clutch kit, and race prepped connecting rods. I´m also thinking about their JE piston: any other bore size or compression ratio, buts does that mean that they would be able to make forged pistons for my engine?

Cheers and a happy new year :)

The only thing compatible is the clutch. Do not buy any engine components because there is NOTHING is the same between the 2 engines.
Also be aware that there were 2 clutch types available in the US - the earlier models had a smaller diameter clutch, and later larger diameter. The smaller is the one compatible with the 2L engine.

For pistons and rods look around and see what you can find for the 4G63 DOHC turbo motors (ie from a VR4, early eclipse etc) The rods and pistons are compatible with the SOHC 4G63 bottom end. You can maybe even source some parts closer to home?

Do a search on camshafts in this forum to find a dozen posts about them.

I wasn't even aware that the clutch fit. On mine, my clutch is much larger in diameter then the 2litre ones.

The intercooler and piping will fit. (unless you have the JA Inlet).

Besides that, nothing in regards to engine will fit. Except turbo of course.

All other car stuff can fit. Because the bodys are the same.

hey WidebodyWoody the(11a & 12a) turbos fit,2.6 starter,Yes the 215mm clutch,
Then theres the 225mm and 87-89 245mm, by the way the
245mm is the 245ci hemi clutch. Ive used the scorpion clutch plate
it has 5-6mm less plate in the centre but 5-6mm more on the outer.
but I suppose the only other parts are rocker cover bolt seals
dizzy seals,dipstick o-ring,rocker cover D-ring seal.

alright those are not really parts, but I have a little time to kill today.

Cheers:Phil.
