I haven't made the box yet... I'm thinking I want to go a sealed box to make it as small as possible...
The sub is a sony XSL122P5 12" 1300w (the pentagon style ones)

How many litres or cubic feet should a sealled box be?

To calculate enclosure volume of a rectangular prism its as easy as H x W x D (internal). If these are in cm, divide total by 1000 to get litres, or divide by 16.387 to get cubic inches and then divide by 1728 to get cubic feet.

For a prism with a sloping face, simply add the top depth to the bottom depth and divide by two and use as above.

Remember to add woofer and port displacement to the total enclosure volume.

Or email me, I'm happy to help. phil@ddaudio.com.au

Thanks for the tips... as for the direction, I was going to face it forward to help try and hide it (out of sight for thieves etc)

What other configurations could be good? I'm not chasing a db record but I would like it to look pretty neat and if I can still fit in a spare wheel, well that would be awesome...

I've got a 12 in a box in the back of mine, facing the hatch. I've put a space saver in the tyre well so the boot floor is now flat.

got it from a car importer in adel. Offset doesn't matter so hit up an importer or tyre shop for a 114pcd with bout the same rolling diameter, i think mine are 16's not sure what profile tyres are.

Lots of people just ditch the spare but you never know when you might need it!

Nissan silvias and 180sx have space savers as standard so u can get one from them.
Starions are a disease, the only cure is poverty.
