What sort of coin would a change over unit be? To be honest my soldering skills were good when i was 10. thats a long time ago. I'm in Ireland at the mo - we have 98 octane at the pump but i don't know if it is leaded. would that matter?

hi

as far as soldering goes, you need to remove a 40 pin microcontroller intact from a dual layer circuit board (soldered both sides) then install a 40 pin socket in its place, the cip then pushes into this.

The biggest issues are that the chip is somewat glued down, the boards are 25 years old and the tracks have a tendency to lift off the board.

all fuels now produced are unleaded, (save for avgas) this isnt a problem as the starion heads (being alloy) have hardened valveseats.
