my attempt at 450hp

Post by igottasicjb »

After deciding to go to the next level of performance with my JB I sent the rebuilt engine back to the workshop to get some forged slugs and rods, a cam more porting and polishing copper head gasket and o-ring job, but the original g63t- block had too much piston to bore clearance which was a good thing because I then had a use for my 4g63t.

After 6 months of waiting on parts and slowly building the engine its finally ready for pick up in the next week.

The block 4g63t:
J.E forged twin cam pistons
Eagle esp. rods
A.R.P stud and bolt kit.
New oil pump
New crankshaft
One balance shaft removed and the other has the weights machined off but remains inside to support the oil pump.
A modified sump, (extra baffle and speed flow weld in barbs)

The Head
A JA (non jet valved) head ported and polished with stainless valves and double springs
A HKS camshaft and 276 int and 276 ex. and ferdanza vernier cam gear
The head and the block have both been stainless steel o-ringed with a copper head gasket.

The Bolt ons
Intake
Modified and extrusion honed sonata MPI with Nippondenso 850cc rx7 Injectors
AU xr6 throttle body and a water/methanol enrichment fogger
Twin bosch ignition coils
Controlled by a motec m4-pro

Exhaust
Custom home made stainless exhaust manifold
Garrett GT2876 with modified compressor .71 int .84 ex. Was rated at 440hp now is around 510 ish with a compressor mod

I will take pictures the minute I have it in my garage as for manifold picks the are on the forums somewhere.

my goal is 450 fly wheel hp i think it should easily make that at for the rest of the drivtrain well........... i'll let you know when it breaks

It should be great, mine's a 3040 with 0.82 and it's sweet as, even at present with stock ECU. :)

thanks for all the replies.
the engine should still make good power around the 7000 rpm mark, it will just be a matter of getting it running and see how safe it feels and sounds around this rpm. the turbine isn't masive but its big enough. i don't mind if it doesn't see good power till after 4000 rpm, this might help in saving the rest of the drive gear.

still waiting on the engine :( i'm getting a bit frustrated now its taken nearly 7 months and i just want it home.
