Mind if I ask what the cost of doing that was, ie how much did the stuff you bought to do it cost all together? And how much paint was used?

1 litre can of Brightside = $29.95 (or thereabouts)fr335tyl3r wrote:Mind if I ask what the cost of doing that was, ie how much did the stuff you bought to do it cost all together? And how much paint was used?
1 x foam roller + frame + additional foam rollers = $7.00
Turps for cleanup = $0 (already had it)
Total cost: $36.95
I still have at least 3/4 of the can of paint left - I overestimated how much was required per coat, and therefore wasted more in the paint tray than I put on the panel :glare:
At a guess, I'd say a litre would do one coat for the entire car quite easily.

Tell me about it - it seems like a lot of new cars come with orange peel as standard now. My wife's car (5 year old Mazda) has it, as do quite a few other new-ish cars I've seen. Pretty pathetic, really.Alspos wrote:Coool. Good to see someone has done the experiment. Little bit of peel but a wetsand and buff would fix it up. Probably better than most cars on the road now.
I drove next to a red VE SS this morning. Panel gaps are beautiful but orange peel city. Interesting for a brand new car.

yeah but a respray only costs $3500 because of all the labour involved in the prep work etc, the paint may only cost $500 of that.
