Gabriel shocks for Starion
Just spoke to National Parts the Gabriel importer. The Gabriel rears (G55530) are list 247.89+ GST EACH! :( They have never had them in stock (ie. never sold any) and are 3 months lead time from the USA.
I would say the Tokico's from the USA are a better way to go.
see http://www.racetep.com/starsuspen.htm rears are $109.00 USD each so $218.00 USD for a set ~ $295.00 AUD plus shipping. The Tokico's would be a much better quality choice than the Gabriel's. He also has them with special rebound valving as well for competition use.
cheers.

Just check what the shipping cost is. You may get stung up to USD100 because they will weigh a bit and then your up to around A$450. You can get a pair of Konis for that.mrb1 wrote: I would say the Tokico's from the USA are a better way to go.

Hi,
You can get a set of front and rear tokico for the starion for $299US and the postage to australia is $120 by usps air mail which takes from 3-10 days. So for $420US you get can get a complete set landed in australia. With the aussie dollar around 0.75 thats about $560 aussie dollars landed plus gst. I believe the tokico are bolt in so no strut mods needed. If you want to know more email or pm me.

Personally I think the Koni would be better value. Sure you have to modify things to fit, but they can be rebuilt if they lose a bit of their performance for a fraction of the cost of new ones. Also your car doesn't look like it has them unless you put the little sticker on the tube outer - the stealth look.
Yes RiceThief perhaps you are right :? More now less later. Maybe an even choice??? The Tokico's might ride a touch better (the Koni's are really good anyhow) being gas that's usually my experience. Anyhow I have Koni's but I purchased them a long time ago so they didn't cost $1000.
I must admit since I have being getting bits together again to build my JA track car I am surprised how much more expensive everything is these days.

gabriel shocks for starion
i tried gabriel through repco a while ago, they had ONE left hand rear strut leg in melbourne and NO right hand ones, hello australia?? monroe actually copied the gabriel vst valving with their new speed sensing shock, because the old monroe sensatrak`s only adjusted their response in a narrow height range.. and i`m not a great believer in monroes anyway, they tend 2 leak.. i`ve had gabriel vst`s in other cars and they were great on road or track..so i will be getting some GABRIEL vst COMMODORE VP FRONT inserts, have machined the tops off my starion rear struts and the commodore ones slide straight in right length compression and extension, shaft diameter and all.. u then get a threaded section with a large nut to retain the insert, from fulcrum suspension maybe? . am also putting on adjustable height spring platforms from gsa suspension in brissy but thats purely optional.. i`d put koni adjustable`s in if i had an unlimited budget tho. So who would have thought commodore`s were useful for anything other than destruction derbies?
u aint driftin until u are sideways BEFORE the corner!!!
