wide body wheels

went to bathurst last weekend in it...all sweet

waiting for boost controller which should be here in a week or so before dyno tuning. be interesting to see what it puts out

Widebody wheels came in two different sets: 7 and 8" for the standard cars, and the later 1988/89 got the 8 and 9" form those equipped with the SHP (Sports Handling Package). The offsets are:

front 7" has +18
rear 8" has -10
front 8" has +18
rear 9" has 0

All these wheels should fit inside the narrowbody guards, but the best wheels to use would be the 7" fronts and the 8" fronts (on the rear) as they both have +18 offset.



With the correct offset, you could fit 10" or 11" wide wheels on a narrowbody.

I have 18x10 and 285/30 on my narrow body JA. I had to send the wheels back to Simmons twice before they were finally correct. I have a complete set of inners and outers that are the wrong offset. DOH!

My purple V6 one is getting 19x11 and 305/25, but it has full cage and mini-tubbing front and rear.

I have 9" on the rear with 245's and there is at least 2 inches room for wider wheels and tyres. What sizes are the Simmons dishes that you have?

since nobody posted the lower control arm lengths;
widebody = 15" flatside = 14"
measured from centerline of lower control arm pivot bolt, to CL of ball joint.
Was out measuring a live axle, so I sorted thru my 'suspension pile' and measured the arms while at it.

That's front only right back are the same?
Also in JD road tests I have seen a "wider front track" mentioned as changes for the JD. Can anybody measure a JD?

Try Oscar-the-Grouch, a member from the US. He can probably get you a set finished off for about US$500 plus postage (about US$150).
Check out his post that deals with LSD's etc etc

Or ebay, where they go for around US$45 each + for unfinished wheels.

I believe they stick out a bit, so you will need to check if they fit properly. Perhaps a set of 4 16x7 with an offset of +18 might give you the look you're after & the cheapest. The SHP wheels (2 16x8 + 2 16x9) are pricier and harder to get.

...I've got to say, when the wheels are polished and finished off, they do look absolutely great and suit the Starion to the max... :)
Also, you need to ask yourself original (Mitsu) stuff v aftermarket ?
