widebody
mate if resale is not even a consideration then go the starion but a worked GTR will beat a starion hands down. Resale value of the GTR is going to be a lot better.
GTR has awesome traction...i have a friend with one that has done the exhaust, air cleaner and power fc and is pulling 11.4 on the quarter. Not bad considering what has been done to it.
Dont get me wrong i love my widebody starion but i have no dreams of trying to beat a GTR
All the best

your absolutely right on the resale value point but 30 grand won't buy you an 11 second gtr (unless your really lucky or live in japan nz) and don't forget gtrs aren't exactly renowned for being cheap to upgrade hehehe (2 turbos = big$ upgrading).
I would'nt fancy a starion getting close to the gtr in the traction stakes either but if i was going to spend 30grand on a 4wd turbo it'd be vr4'ed gsr those things eat gtrs for breakfast and have better handling hehehehe. I know this one white gsr whos got a 3040 hanging off the side and hes in the low 10's for less than 40k spent on it. Imagine what you'd have to do to a gtr to get it going like that you wouldn't have much change from 100k thats for sure.
Their are so many good cars out there  good luck making a choice!!

Oh and if you dont know the conversions rates then $30000 US is $40,730 AUD
I have bought many parts from these guys and if your lucky i might be able to get them to lower the price.
I was after this but due to my S14 not being sold yet i haven't got the spare cash for it.
But either way i'ld love to see this car here in Australia!!!
Shame those Nissans!! :D

just a quiet observation toysrus,
wouldn't an american staz be left hand drive?
It would be nice to have an 8 sec staz here, wouldn't be to easy as a daily driver though, hehehe with a harness and rollcageetc.
Still without the back seat you could put plenty of shopping in
to bad all your groceries would be turned to puree though or end up smeared on the rear window.

That 8 sec Starion will end up costing close to 65KAUD all up due to damn GST and import taxes.

Re: ideas
I dunno, my old man owned a Volvo, he let me drive it for a year, when he gave it to me it was a nice little 4 potter, nice and safe, when I gave it back, it had a snarling Rover V8 in it, it was nearly my favourite car, but he still drives it round, gives new meaning to volvo driverWANTSOM wrote:I have an idea, lets swap dads.
Mine is, embarassingly, a "Bloody Volvo Driver" !!!. I want a dad that wants to spend $30K on a Starion.
I actually do like my dad, but a Volvo aaggggggghhhhhh.
...and on the seventh day god made mercedes.... and he saw it was perfect...
You're right prozac!!

expect that to change in the next few weeks though i know of at least two vr4's in the pipeline that'll be pretty crazy over here in sydney.
