Manuals - 1982 Workshop Manual, 1986 Electrical Wiring

Post by JPC »

I've managed to borrow a couple of original Mitsu Starion workshop manuals, and I've just finished scanning the mongrels.

They are:

- 1982 Workshop Manual
- 1986 Electrical Wiring Workshop Manual

1982 Starion Workshop Manual

Complete scan of the manual, each section in a separate PDF file. The total size of this is about 50 MB.

1986 Starion Electrical Wiring Workshop Manual

This has a huge amount of info and schematics, a lot of which I'd expect to be applicable to earlier models. This one was a bitch. Most of the circuit diagrams (and there are a lot) are of the fold-out type, longer than A3. Plus the paper is thin, so the print on the other side of each page shows through. As if that wasn't enough, the print in some sections is small and rather faint, so it took a lot of experimentation to work out the right scanner settings so that it's readable on the screen, prints well and the file size isn't enormous. In the end, I believe I have now got the scan quality so that when it's printed, it's pretty much looks exactly like the original.

Most of the fold-out schematics I've scanned at A3 size. All the schematics fit comfortably on two A3 pages, with plenty of overlap so that when they're printed, they can be cut and joined at a good place.

The scan of this manual is in a number of PDF files, totalling about 20 MB.

How to get them?

Due to the size of these, it's probably easier to burn CDs and post them out in a CD mailer to those of you who want them. I'd expect the total (non-profit) cost for doing this to be around 5 or 6 snappers.

Anybody want 'em?

I'd be keen for a 1982 workshop manual

If somebody with some extra bandwith could host it, download would be nothing! Seeing as most of us have broadband now! Any volunteers???

Anybody volunteer to host these?

In the meantime, I can burn 'em on CD and send in a CD mailer - anywhere in Oz, $4.50. Just PM or email me.

And for you kiwi's - I've got a sweet copy in my hand and its fantastic!! I ran out of ink trying to print it though :( its huge

So if any New Zealand users missed out, just send me a PM and I will gather some CD-R's and send them out Monday.

Thanks again JPC, this is 100 times better than that Chilton manual I have.

Hey guys - no volunteers to host the files?

I've had quite a few PMs - offers from $10 to $20 so far to send a CD.

While I'm happy to take your money, (until some kind soul will host these so you can get 'em free), I can send a CD anywhere in Oz with both manuals on it for $5 (I'm really only interested in covering cost of CD/case/mailer/postage).

If you want a CD, send me a PM with your address.
