Hey all
Have a problem with the staz which is quite strange. When driving around town doing 50-60km/hr tops the car steers fine but when I reach about 80km/hr the steering wheel seems to shake back and forth like it's trying to turn one way then the other.
I have no idea about steering setups and was wondering if anyone else had some ideas as to what could cause this?

Watch your speed - It's virtually impossible to pick it out of the carpet if it gets blown off the table.

it could also be flat spots on your front tyres i had the same problem on mine a way to test it is by putting some spare wheels on the front ... if you have any sitting around

Could be your shocks
I had a similar issue with my Galant. Although the tie rod ends and the alignment was fine, it was still doing it at around 80km/h, smooths out again at over 100. Ended up being the front shocks were completely shot. Changed them and all good again. Worth checking.

My mate was talking about a bubble in the tyres, where the steal brades break due to stress, had it all checked out though and that wasn't the problem.
I don't think it's the front shocks, it just passed a warrant with them. I've had some problems with the top left wheel bearing in the past but I had it replaced not to long ago :?
When I lock up the steering doing a U turn I hear a single CLUNK, not everytime but if I haven't done a U turn in a while it will do it.. Sound like the culprit?

Yeah,I know exactly what you mean.Mine did the same at about 70-80 when off the gas and when I accelerated it went away.
It was really quite violent and felt like a wheel was about to come off.
I replaced the inner and outer tie rod ends and its sweet now.
Also did my front wheel bearings while I was at it

If not another thing to check is the idler arm bushes. It'll give you wobbly steering, give you the clunking noises you describe and possibly chew your front left tyre as well.
Bits-are-shitty still sell these bushes as they're the same as the Stigma ones. Even when they tell you they're NLA, they'll most likely have a bunch in stock.
