12 months of Grief came to an end today

Post by WANTSOM »

Well 18 months actually but 2005 was a year of total mind numbing frustration trying to get bugs sorted in the Track Car motor dept. Well today after a long haul and invaluable help from MRB1, Merlin and Cookie it went on the dyno and came out the other side healthier. Also a big plug for Mark at MRC Dyno in Castle Hill - the guy is awesome. Give him a call for your tuning needs.

Here is the graph. This was done in 4th (1:1) in shootout mode on 15/16 lb boost.

Image

Motor is a NxMerl special after the original proved too tired. (Bottom end is ex-NxTime and DASH head is ex Merlin. The other crap is mine and is where the headaches were.)

Anyways at long last (2 and half years in the build - half of which was spent getting the motor sorted) its up and running. :D

Congratulations Greg!

What was the solution to the ongoing problem?

Injectors - specifically the Haltech didnt like low impedence Rochestot style injectors. As soon as it went high imp Bosch car became tuneable.

Haltech say their ECU will run Low imp but in my case it wouldnt.

Congrats on getting the car all sorted, Greg. When will it be making its track debut?

Impressive dyno figure there with a highflow TC06 :) Just one thing I did notice was that the BP figure is set to 99.9. Any particular reason why Mark used that figure?

Yep, much relief. :)

Day wasnt without its little dramas (as is the norm with this car) but a big hurdle was crossed nevertheless.

Motor has a very strong bottom end with a DASH head. Running MPI, XF throttle body, twin coil wasted spark with CDI and driven by an old Haltech E6A.
