Swedish Starion 16V
Two years ago I bought a really rotten Starion, that perhaps seems like a stupid idea but they are not very common up here. I really wanted one and this was the only one I could find. There were about 70 sold between 84 and 89, and there are approximately 40 left. Mine has not been in traffic this millenium...
Pictures suck in the beginning but they will get better:
And yes, it has a tow hook (Is that what it is called?)
The plan from the beginning was a simple tune up and run the shit out of the car, but as always the plans carried away totally :D
I bought a Lancer EVO1 engine and figured that would do the trick, but naaa. It was quite expensive an after doing some research I found out that I was going to have to change the rods, pistons and cam shafts also to reach my goals. Then I sold the EVO engine and now I have a couple of older 6-bolt engines that I will use instead, they are stronger and cheaper :)
The projects is going slow but I have some pictures on the car that I will post here. I am also building a V12 twin turbo charged BMW so neither time or money seems to be sufficent.

Now I have to warn you Starion lovers, this is extremely painfull to see. Up here the government think it´s a good idee to take care of our icy slippery roads with SALT :glare: For those who doesn´t understand what that does to a Japanese car from the eighties, well here you go:
MINT CONDITION :D

This corrosion issue from the 1980's is why Jap cars were widely regarded as crap in Europe.
I was very suprised by this when I first visited the UK some years ago. This sort of stuff is generally a non issue in Australia.
It's amazing you hardly see any older Jap cars on the road at all.
Starion EVO Jap cars are regarded as ok here.

The car has been going through a slow and careful restoration since I bought it. The car is being totally disassembled and rebuilt. Here you can see some work in progress:

In an earlier picture you could see the area where the windscreen wiper engine used to be seated(totaly rusted out). When I started investigating that I realized that the complete windscreen frame was totaly crap also.
I then had to remove the windscreen, which according to some proffesionals was "Imbossible to do without their skills and tools", Well I took the window out with neither of the two :). I only used some common sense and steel wire to cut the window out.
Some of the rust is gone here:
Here I have rebuilt the frame and a simple construction for the windscreen wiper engine. The windscreen is glued back in position also.

I'll give you a little teaser :)SOWTZ wrote:V12 twin turbo BMW!!!

Welcome
Of course a complete restoration of the V12 engine is being done also.
You would not belive how difficult it is to make room for two turbo chargers in that car, people with brains describe it as "impossible". Well luckily I am not one of them :D
There is a Project thread on a Swedish forum(In swedish but lots of pictures):

-Guess which is more fun, building this engine or fighting the starion rust? :D
