have seen progsr`s car and it doesn`t have a build plate on it, only the aust. compliance plate, so the date he`s quoting would be the compliance date not the build date. and yes it is a real jd, just i`d say panelbeaters lost the build plate when the engine bay was painted last. his comp plate is on the rh strut tower 2... cars sometimes sit round 4 ages waiting 2 be ordered by dealers after they`ve arrived at the holding yard, i`ve seen hyundai sonatas with over a year difference between build/compliance dates as they dont date the plate until the car is sent out of the yard....

Yes, progsr's JD was built in October and complianced in December 1985. I only have Flav's JD as being built in October 1985, but it would be safe to assume that it was also complianced around December 1985. Flav?

My JA has perfect motor - FMIC - forgies - high flow head but...rusted front guards and keyed on every panel. Time to get serious or time to take it to the tip.
Yep thats right. Compliance is the process of getting the car passed through and them saying yep its ok to drive here giving you all the necessary paperwork.
