Pistons and rods

Post by Jesusdroveawestfield »

You can no longer buy original Starion pistons. I have a perfect set for sale with conrods. I replaced mine with forgies. Only 80,000 k's on them
$500. Buyer if in Sydney can have a block and head with purchase as well.
Both in perfect condition.

Are they +1mm oversize or standard? Also are they 7.6:1 or 8.5:1? The replacement pistons that were around a while back were 8.5:1 the same as the import 4G63T SOHC engines (with the jet valves).

They would be standard 7.6:1 pistons... original factory pistons from his JD Starion with 80'000 k's on the clock.

Really? Are you sure?

If thats the case then they would be 8.5:1 pistons. Can we get verification that JD's ran 8.5:1 ratio from the factory?

I thought they were 8.5:1? Anyhow memory fades with age they say! Perhaps somebody has an old JD sales brochure and can check? Jesusdroveastarion can you take a photo of the top of your JD piston and post it on the list or PM me?

cheers,
Mark.

i was under the impression that compression was bumped up to cope with the lack of power from the changes.
