Rattling Tailgate
Rattling Tailgate
I drive 80km to work every day, and the same distance home again. Is there anything that can be done to stop the annoying rattle from the tailgate? What if I moved the locks on the inside of the hatch down further?

could also be the bolts that hold on to the spoiler
They rust and break off.... then roll from one side of the tailgate to the other, over the glass ( rattle, rattle, rattle.... :x )
you can cut a hole in the side of the tail on the inside.( with the tail gate open) where the body meets the glass.., will be a triangular piece inset a bit from the edge of the sheetmetal.....
Then drive around the block... doing only left, (or right) turns, pushing it a bit so the bolts will roll to one side.
then use a magnet to fish them out
( a magnetic probe available from most auto parts stores is handy for this job)
I had an annoying rattle because of this, and once i cut the hole to fish them out, ( I got 5 of the little mongrels out!).... no more rattles!
And the spoiler stays on fine, as i think the rest of the bolt has usually rusted to the frame, and they are a tight fit from factory anyway.

Well it's already fully sound deadened from the stereo install (2 x 15" subs) so I know it's not that. I'll try moving the brackets down on my next day off and I'll see if that does anything to help. Otherwise, I will try some of your ideas. Thanks guys. I'll let you know how I go with it.
