Most powerful Starion in Aus?

Post by MrBishi »

I don't care if it is powered by a 2L or a V12 merlin. What is the most powerful Starion in Australia? Or for that matter the world?

V12 merlin.. THAT's the swap I should have done! Might have had to hang the driver's seat off the rear bumper though. Also, it might do worse things to the weight distribution than the 2j :)

Nah, should have used the engine that's in Jay Leno's car - the 'Blastolene Special'. It has a 990 hp, 18 litre engine out of a Patton tank, with a Greyhound Bus rear end. The car weighs in at 4000kg, though

Sakura would be one of the highest output starions around I would think...not sure if you can really call that a starion anymore though

Yeah all the drag starions are the quickest and most powerful. But they aren't in AUS. and besides the actual drag starions, there is always the EIP tuning Starion. We all know that one.

The DOHC 4G engined yellow widebody drag Starion from Buschur Racing in the US would have to be the one with the most HP (800hp+) and runs 8.61@158MPH.

well... sakura (mirage) went 7.43 years ago. Staz 2.6 powered
There was a burgundy staz in the 8s years ago, powered by a 'lesser' 2.6. Budget held that car back. Hard to get sponsorship for outdated motors.
A full street 2.6 gone 9.5s many years ago. Supposedly owned by an enthusiast who got rich and decided to play with the g54b.

A big thread on the u.s. forum on the EIP cars.
Red car is the capable of lo 9s.
The blue car in the video is the slower of the two. Ran 11.3 @28psi, 10.4 + a 75shot. Did it with a remarkable simple combination too.
Full weight, stock g54 cam, stock 3.54, shifted @6200 rpm !
So much for all the horse5hit myths flying about - that u need dohc, short gears, rpm, etc. I've been saying eons ago that u don't.
I'll find out eventually what a 2L sohc motor can do with the same simple, but aggresive approach. Boost baby

kw is only a figure, sorta useless without putting it down.
Dragstrip is where u find big hp, ET is how u flex it.

On the dohc, I'm speaking in the context of working with the sohc motor that came with the car. Proven potential, as seen with the 2.6. I'd imagine the 2L can't be -that- far behind. No examples to compare tho.

I mention the EIP cars in case someone was interested in powerful street staz performance. The g54b "magic" lies within its 400+ ft-lbs tq to the threads on pump gas - most 4cyl can't touch that

Thats true, but not what I originally asked. I was merely interested in what KW/HP starions have made. It is a quantifiable measurement just like drag strip times.

I'm not personally interested in making the starion a drag car. Too heavy, IRS etc. Much simpler cars to start with.
