Seat Belt replacement

Are there any after-market front seatbelt or any non starion seat belts (from a more common car) that can be easily fitted to the starion ?? Mine are a little frayed and need them replaced for the roadworthy certificate...

not as far as Im aware, however there are joints that re-condition the belts... and most can then put any color belt u want in as well :D

I replaced both front belts in my old starion. I got them from a place called "Fiddymonts", $100 each They had a listing, as they have to be mounted on a 60deg incline or something... Now all seatbelts sold here have to be the webbing clamp types that cost $200 a piece.

hey Prozac, could you look into that company for me anf find out how much for 3 complets sets( left/right) i need some for my car and my sons staz, might be able to do a better deal on this many sets

I can give em a ring, no troubles, but the only seatbelts sold here are now web-clampers... they're pretty pricey!

Your dash is all packaged up ready to go by the way, im just waiting for a spare $40 to come my way, i just lost my part time job, so now im a super super super poor student :( PITY ME! :P

I have had experience with the front seat belts. If you wanna save money they arent that hard to fix. just get a generic seat belt from supercheap or something, that is the same size. Unwind the original ones (you dont even need to take them off the doors to do this), put a screw driver into the spindle to stop it from spooling back on you, remove the plastic rod holding the belt into the spindle and fit the new one into there. You can even give the spindle a few more turns if the spring is a bit stretched so it returns completely instead of having to feed it back all the time.

I've had similar issues with my seat belts, tried aftermarket belts etc... As far as I know, you've got 2 options
* find someone who's not a tight-wad with decent belts (presumably from a starion wreck). Tighten the coil a couple of turns and install them
* get them re-loomed

I haven't found anything aftermarket that actually works despite claim that they would.

NB: don't forget the plastic surrounding the belts... it keeps the water off when it rains, but you'll figure that part out soon enough

thats... odd. brand new replacement seatbelts were the easiest part to find for my starion... you just need to bear in mind that they are mounted on an angle.
