It's interesting with the black mesh wheels as they may have been
a factory option? I would have preferred the original (SHP) wheels.

Damn, I don't know how to display the image on the post :x
I have a set of those wheels as well. Mine have red centres.

JD,

Registered and centre consol back to original! Prefer the 2.0L motor though!

The Nardi sports wheel feels good, so it stays!

Nice Black Starion!

The Enkei mesh wheels were an option for the 1987 JDM market only, they never got the SHP (Sport Handling Package) wheels (8 &9's) because of wheel-size tax reasons.

If those are the factory ones, you've got a pretty rare car.

The Enkei's that were on mrb1's Conquest came with it when it was imported from USA and converted to RHD quite a few years ago.

Actually the wheels (with the mesh) are referred to or branded as "SSR" wheels having tyres sized
215x55x16(front) & 235x50x16(rear). I believe larger than standard and smaller than SHP!
I've seen one of the Gullwing Starions with exactly the same wheel package.

Also, the car was manufactured 7/88 and numbered 000069, so it had to be one of the early ones with the 2.6L.

Still, the original Starion wheels (SHP) kick ass!!

They may have came with the car, but they were never a Factory Option, or Factory Authorized Dealer Accessory wheel, the USDM never got any Factory Option or Factory Authorized Dealer Accessory wheels, and Japan only got 1 kind, 1 year; Enkei/1987.

Back in the day there were only a few wheel companies that made wheels that fit the SQ, Enkei, Ronal, and Borbet come to mind. These became very popular after-market additions, and may have been sold at dealerships, but were never authorized by Mitsubishi.
