just because its on 0 on the crank, dosen't mean its TDC on number one. it could be on number 4 firing.

you have to be on compressions stroke on number one, as i explaind earlier. with your finger in the spark plug hole of number one.

like alpos said the rotor will turn as you insert the distributor, so make sure its where you want it to be when its actually all the way in.

Sorry, I couldn't help but laugh when I read this. Probably because we have all been there and done that.

Is the dizzy the only thing you have touched since it ran last?

Ok, just take a deep breath...... hold it.........let it out.........Aaaahhh

Now, you have spark? Pull a spark plug lead off and turn it over. Get a shock? If so, good, if not you have a problem.

Make sure the mark on the cam is at 9 when the crank is at 12.

If you can't determine if the engine is at TDC try it, if it doesn't fire, pull the dizzy, rotate the crank 1 turn and put the dizzy back in. If you didn't have TDC this will now be it. But make sure the cam is at 9.

Does this help any? Don't give up yet, It's possibly just a little thing out of whack, once it's fixed, your love will be rekindled.....

What ECU are you using? Check to see if the dizzy is sparking as has been mentioned.

I'll share my experiences since it sounds relevant. If you are using multi coil, ensure that your distributor has the proper cylinder 1 reference signal..

have you tried the timing reset on the EMS? I'm aware that MT ecu's require the timing to be reset to 0 in the actual computer when installing.

I had trouble starting, with all the associated backfires and farting because the dizzy was telling the computer to fire cylinder 1 when it should be firing cylinder x..

cheers

Strion.

Man you gotta find a better way to check your spark. Try a multimeter or something. BTW- were you the black guy with smoking frizzled hair I saw up Stanhope the other day rofl

re batteries... we use new, fully charged ones just to be sure :D

Keep working on it or just take the car to a mechanic if you've hit a wall. Sometimes you gotta spend a little dosh to get moving. Dont be embarassed, thats why we have a currency system.

Cheers
