I love my commodores, I own a VL Turbo and a VH SLE and at one stage owned a VN now owned by my brother. I remember your shit talking on CCC madeofmilo. Personally I don't get why people feel the need to hang shit on other types of cars other than their own. There are plenty of cars I don't wish to own doesn't mean I have to go around bagging the shit out of them.

Commodores are a practical car for many people myself included just cos they aren't your cup of milo doesn't mean they have no merit.

Oh and lastly have you ever owned a commodore, just like to know what you base your assesment of them on?

My dad has a commodore, referred to as the bomb. He bought it because it was dual fuel. They mostly drive the other car (Ignus, the 'business' car) since it's better on fuel and in a lot better condition. Dad is a bit rough and ready when it comes to the commodore, so last time I was in it, it was a bit worse for wear.

In launnie, most of the newer commodores are driven by business people (ie government vehicles, the company car etc). The older ones are either driven by the young guy, often a country lad aiming to break the world record for number of times around the blockie circuit, or by the flanellete wearing, chain smoking, beer swilling mullet haired stereotype. In Hobart there's more of the family car thing going on.

The only reason why I would never buy/drive a Commodore is because of all the stories I hear from a few of my mates who work for Holdens and some of the dodgy sh#@ which goes on when assembling them that I don't trust any Commodore anymore rofl

That's the actual reason why 2 of them drive Ford's and the others have randoms rather then Holden vehicles LOL

funny you say that, the head mechanic from the -largest?- holden dealer in perth is, for some reason, a die hard holden fan. but i have never heard anything but shocking stories about how poorly most models are made and his never ending rant about how the gen 3 engine (when it just came out) came with a little box that had the first of many revisions of the main bearings. then pistons.
myself i like cars that go from stop to fast and back again in reasonable time but more so in an orderly and controlled fashion. i don’t mind sacrificing a little comfort for a sporty ride, but don’t like riding on water balloon that lacks the potential to be sporty on a normal guys pay. i don’t like cars with alien technology that can make metal thin and flexible while still weighing twice what it should, either that or they have a deal going with the military to 'dispose' of depleted uranium in the chassis rails. and i don’t like having to pass up good parking spots because it needed a ten point turn while the greyhound bus behind me did it in one and still had room to open the luggage compartments. and im not too keen on the previously mentioned 'branding' of commodore drivers, or getting a speeding ticket with 'vehicle model: Exxon Valdez' written on it. but each to there own.

I don't think you can really look at a car by it's brand, you wouldn't compare a evo IX to a 1983 mirage or vice versa since they're both mitsubishi's, theres to many variants to say things like "Ford good, holden bad".

Personally I like fords because of there long illustrious history and they have more cars that appeal to me, but holden also have cars like the SLR5000 and HJ-HZ.. gotta love em :D

However you could compare a mitsubishi zero to a mitsubishi starion though

The Mitsi Mirage has been around since the late 70's.

There have been turbo and even 4WD versions before 1994.

Australia missed out on quite a few cars over the years.

we have a VN in the family, and I thought the starion was unreliable 'til we got this thing.
My JA has perfect motor - FMIC - forgies - high flow head but...rusted front guards and keyed on every panel. Time to get serious or time to take it to the tip.
