Isnt the colour code stamped on your chassis plate? Should be silver and rivoted on to the firewall.

Something like COLOR / TRIM : D34 H14

Mine is Japanese, so not sure if you guys have the same type of plate, but you should.

so the UE on my plate means nothing. when i look on the powerplus paints bigass book of manifacturer codes in the store. there is a UE there and its called new sarari red. its a paint that was used in 1983 by mitsubishi. there is no r47's for mitsubishi in the book. ok any hints to make sure i dont fuck up the job and paint it orange or something..
anyone recommend a brand of paint. im going to can spray it. i did it to my cordia front bar and skirts and they came up well but i never clear coated it. i will be sure to clear coat this one

If it's the factory red colour then the code is R47. I've had this mixed up many times at my local Autopro store. The code is in their book.

You can see the paint code in this picture:

ok yeah i just cant find no R47 in this guide
http://www.autobarn.com.au/files/LWBIBI ... 202004.pdf

so im wondering if it is the paint is the one dated 1983 code UE which is on the metal plate on the firewall of my car being impact red or new sarari red which is the same color just different names
i'll just take some part of my car that is red in and match it

matching it would be an idea as paint tends to fade

Especially red.

Also, use PPG paints. They cost more, but they are among the best possible paints you can buy.

for the match, just remove the fuel filler cap and take that in.

I know it may cause debate.. but i have ordered the UE new safari red for my car, and it matches...
I can see from the photo that the paint code is written as R47, but I got the UE, and it was fine..

I got a spraypak for $20 mixed from an auto paint shop supplier.

I had the same problem at AUTOBARN , they couldn't match my colour even after giving them the paint code, my car has been resprayed all red using the red from the old 2 tone colour scheme, so they pointed me to the local body shop and the guy there, John, nice bloke looked it up and said the paint code for 2 tones has 2 hues to it ans gave me mine, it's a s64 I think, so with that i went to autobarn and they mixed me a spray can.. too easy... not
