RE510, you will also need the oil pump and cover, plus the pullys, and tensioner. and you will (eventually) find that the water pump needs a bit of modifying (remove a rib and one bolt hits the tensioner pully arm. the back of the tensioner arm can be relieved and or modify the offending water pump bolt.
this is all fresh in my mind, as it was yesterdays entertainment :glare:
note that when you get a new sump gasket, one of the holes at the front is enongated. you need to make a matching elongation to your staz sump!

You'd be better off pulling the twincam off an N/A GSR Galant.
I know the vr4 head sounds good, but you're paying for jack all in reality.
The N/A head has the cams that make power to redline, whereas vr4's die about 6400-6600 rpm. Also, the N/A head will be slightly torquier but come on boost about 200-300rpm later. It'll also cost you like 300 dollars less and there's tons more.
Other than that, there's not a whole lot of difference in them. But before you put one on, fix the lifters with 2g items.

The only difference between an N/A head and a Turbo head is camshaft profiling and one of the oil galleries on the (if you look with timing belt on the right), southwest corner. There is -very- little if any difference elsewhere and yes, the compression in a 4g63 is dependent on pistons and hg, not the head.
Are you speaking from experience???Entaran wrote:You'd be better off pulling the twincam off an N/A GSR Galant.

I could say... If your not in the habit of spining shit then you shouldn't start.... But I won't...
I just asked if you know this from experience...
"Try it and find out for yourself..." Is that what someone told you?
Are the valve the same size?
Are the ports the same size?
Can't you get a 2g NA GSR Galant head?

Excellent...
So you can answer my questions...
Are the valves the same size?
Are the valve springs the same diameter, thickness, stiffness?
Are the ports the same size?
Can't you get a 2g NA GSR Galant head to avoid changing the lifters?
What is wrong with the 1g lifters? And why 2g lifters? I thought the 3g lifters were better...
