I think its something like 9.1 or 9.2 low 9's @ lots of mph NO GAS!!! DOT approved tyres ! they hit the gas next run and broke the gearbox.

There is a big writeup in the new ZOOM magazine (cover car) but it only says 9.8 et. (only) so i think the shoot / write up was done a while ago ...

Speaking of fast Lancers, these two 8 second cars will be at Jamboreee 2005 this September at Willowbank:

But even quicker than than these is John Sheperds AWD Mitsubishi:

8.43@170MPH - Fastest 4WD 4 Cyl in the world.

Still a 2L, manual stock tranny, glass windows and steel body ie: full street trim.

Shep has always been one of those cats that could run the same parts as the next guy, but still blow them all away. Amazing 'street' car.
Similar to Rosados' steel body, glass window rwd 82 toyota corolla that runs 7.6s toy 3sgte 2L 4cyl powered
Brent Rau rwd dsm does a good job fighting off those monster 2jz supras

For a daily driven street car, I can hardly imagine anybody here making enough power to excede the capabilities of the stock pistons - sohc or dohc. Tuning makes all the difference, I'd spend money there first

Bob Jane was a legend when he was racing the monaro's. No one could catch him... later in Life when i was working at HRT i ran into a guy that 'works for Bob'. He told me how they were hiding Nitrous in the roll cages. What a Legend!!!

Nitrous in roll cages!?!? brilliant! It's better than the old method of hiding it in the fire extinguishers, don't want a steward grabbing on in an emergency to put out a fire :D

someone else told this story, but it goes along the lines of some guy was notorious for bending/breaking the rules. It got to the point somehow that they had removed the fuel tank after 26 breaches, at that point he got the shits and drove back to his garage with no fuel tank with the parting words "make that 27", had it all throughout the cage.

You'll have the 'clever' losers who would stoop to any level to win.
Some oval track racer found a way to run a "dead cylinder" in his v8, using it to 'supercharge' the other 7 - baffled the techs and competition for a while. How it worked, I have no idea.

What I've observed thru modifying cars. Regardless of car group, you will always have that very quiet individual whose car does all the talking thru outstanding results. They're FAR smarter than the average bloke. Shep is that sorta guy.
When modifying my turbo buick v6, Red was always accused of having way more done to his GN than he claimed. He ignored 'em. A friend Tim got fed up with the behaviour demonstrated by other 'club members', so he decided to put a stop to "the noise".
Challenged anyone to bring money - put up or shut the fvk up. He took his big heavy, full wt airconditioned 3.8L sedan down the strip to a couple 10sec passes, drove straight into the pits and let them dismantle the car & drivetrain. They ALL lost. No more bickering
