Each tooth is about 8 degrees or so. That's huge.

Apparently some people have had losses of upto 30hp if the cam is just 1 degree out.

shit, that means I was 8 degrees too advanced!!

sounds tempting though, $280 mmmmm, better spend the money on suspension first, and then new brake pads, and then tyres, and then,, who am I kidding...... :D

Turbo question: i've just noticed my 14b turbo has a hairline crack near the wastegate flapper (common problem i know) does that mean it'd be a waste of time to upgrade it to a 16g compressor cover?

also currently i have a hi flow tc06, is it a worthwhile step up to the vr4 turbo from this? would it be better (or even possible?) to upgrade this since it's exhaust housing is fine?

just trying to evaluate the best plan of attack here, i'm for a midrange torque and response from the following upgrades (as i'd suspect everyone is).

ADJUSTABLE CAM GEARS

Post by INP51 »

Hey everyone

I can get HKS Cam Gears to suit the mighty SOHC and DOHC 4G63's for around $260 each but obviously less if we buy bulk or tomei ones for $240 each once again less if we bulk buy. Bulk buy would be classified as 5+ if you are interested please pm me or email me at work - chris@extrememotorsports.com.au i will have some cams on the way for the VR4 in a few weeks so ill get the gears freighted with them to save on freight charges for all :). thanks guys / girls.

Stock TC-06 flows 360 cfm, td05h 14b flows either 405cfm or 430cfm, TC-05 flows 320cfm, not sure what to expect from a hi flowed TC-06 though

Stock TD05H-14B turbine housing is restrictive. You could bolt on the EVO3 turbine housing (no mods needed just bolt on).
This setup will spool better than the TC06.

Would the gain be worth $160 dollars?

Ok Regarding Cams,
I've got the the possibility of regrinding the cam for a resonable price (about $100) But as i understand it the standard turbo cam has nowhere near enough meat for a regrind similar to the camtech cam cookie has, (Duration: 286 Duration @ .050" : 238 lift Lift @ cam: 319 ) would an l300 cam be more suitable for a regrind ? i'm assuming an NA cam would have a bit more duration and lift (meat) than a turbo cam but would it have sufficient lobe seperation?

would an l300 cam even fit in an 8v staz head? and what price diference would there be between a new cam and a regrind?

Thanks guys.

With my Crow cam fitted at TDC it was perfect. Cam adjustment either way lost power.

Hey ashly what were the specs on the crow cam and how much would one set me back. also anyone have a price/supplier for double valve springs as i'm inclined to agree with the valve float theorem proposed by professor Barney :)
