Do you guys think this is the Aus Delivered or the Jap spec ones?

I am only asking as the pics I took were not very clear or the piston tops had not been cleaned before I took them.
I have had a look on MRB1's web site and it looks like the Australian delivered pistons. If so, this car is a Jap delivered hybrid from NZ.

I also did a compression test this afternoon and got the following results:

- From the piston nearest to the firewall to the front of the car:
130, 120, 130 and 120PSI

Are these results any good?????

cheers...all

:? the pistons say "T" on the top which means they have a 7.6:1 compression ratio which is aussie or UK as far as I know (where as the "Ts" have a 8.5:1) but I don't know about those pressure ratings, my previous staz was a euro spec which had 152psi per cylinder, I have just recently purchased a jap spec with 172psi per cylinder. So after all that I'm as lost as you :)

As far as starions in NZ go, we have NZ new ones, Jap imports and UK imports so it's a mixed bag really.
Watch your speed - It's virtually impossible to pick it out of the carpet if it gets blown off the table.

I recall 140-135psi. Make sure you hold it on full throttle when you crank it for the compression test.

thanks MRB1. I did the test agin with full throttle got the following from No1 cylinder (front of the car) to No4 cylinder:

120, 140, 150 and 140PSI

No1 looks very low compared to the others. What do you guys think?

Hmmm...No1 looks a bit dodgy? Squirt some oil into number 1 and do the test again if it improves it's piston/rings if it does not it's a valve/head sealing issue.

I found an old compression test 155,150,148,152psi.

uhm

why would full throttle, or any throttle for this matter?

i was told by a few people on here that i could compression test a motor with no manifolds.

Full throttle means there are no restictions in the system and the cylinder can fill fully. Obviously no manifolds will also reduce the flow restictions as well !!
