What front strut inserts?

Post by dirty sanchez »

I'm getting new springs and I want to get new strut inserts at the same time but I can't find any shock manufacturer that lists front strut inserts for the Starion. Are the starion front struts a direct match for another car? What front inserts do people usually run? Any help would be really appreciated.

I know that KYB has a listing for all Starions. You could import a set from the US for under $600AUD total if nothing is available locally.
Please register your vehicle details on the AUSTRALIAN STARION REGISTRY <HERE>

Front Shock Absorber

8735 PEDDERS

365029-N106 KYB

86-2105SP1 KONI

Konis are about $400 a pair plus strut mod if required.

They also use the same Koni one in the rear.

Hi,
The Koni number is no longer in the Koni catalogue but the official Koni distributor in Melbourne Toperformance will still make them. They can also do custom valving. When I last checked (I guess a long while ago now) Pedders no longer stocked the inserts.

Yes people use Sigma ones but they were a different Koni part number. I believe the full droop dimension is different by about 10mm or so. I can't remember the details. I think the strut rod full extention is shorter on the Starion. There is a stopper inside the strut that they can change. But hey who gets airborn anyway.

Anyone looking at doing the rear struts, be warned.
I got quoted today $810 (pair) plus labour for removing them from the car and sending them away to be rebuilt.
Got quoted $445 pair for the front inserts.
all up the quote came to $1510 including labour.
