I prefer the scoop series. If they can make a scoop one, NOT THE STANDARD one, it would be perfect. Some nice big blended scoop in the centre.

Woody, what do you mean? Gary has a mold of the hood in the picture, nothing else. You would be better off getting a fiberglasser here to make a custom hood.

The hood will be shipped with the rest of my junk coming from Georgia. Looking at 6 weeks via seafreight. Still waiting on the guy to finish up my order (almost a year now) so not in the biggest rush. Just wanted to know if anyway wants one..

tmz_99, The place i'm ordering from has about 80 quests, so if your looking at getting a late model hood, this guy will have one, not to sure how i can send it to you once it's here though...

If you can organise transport from sydney to perth let me know

Have you got some pics of the bonnet latch area & hinges. I've seen a few fibreglass bonnets for other cars, some use the stock fittings well & others basically require bonnet pins for peace of mind.
I think these hoods are uber tough, but definetly do not want bonnet pins.

I'm guessing this would cost around AU$600 by the time it is landed here?

I'm guessing it will cost more than that cause you will still need to pay for shipping it from there to here.. plus duty / gst how ever much that is.. will check with the brokers at work.

here are more pics

Thanks for the info LXS.
I'm not convinced as to the quality of the finished product by the bad panel gaps in some of the pics on the linked thread.

Also the money is probably spent better elsewhere.

The hoods are made oversized to where they do not even fit in between the front fenders, if they do they rub. It is much easier to sand composites than adding. You can then sand to your personal gap preference. The car the hood is on is mine in the pictures is mine and it was hit with sanding well and not completely finished off but the gaps looked pretty good. Guess its one of those things you have to see in person.

I've learned in the prototype process that not matter how much you think each car is alike even just removing a front fender and not putting it back on exactly (as you know) can effect the gaps (or even a fender bender, front end damage that has been repaired, etc..) Thus the reason to oversize the hood as not every car is identical and oeoples gap preferences. These hoods will not be to everyone's liking as they desire OEM fit and finish, this takes work with FG.

gary,
Not having a go. I really am just looking for an excuse to not spend my money on non-performance stuff!

duty

Post by starion4me »

there is no duty to be paid now when buying from the states due to the trade agreement that took affect Jan 05 between aus and the US.
GST will still need to be paid though.

Of course do your research on the australian customs website to be sure.

That's not exactly right though, the parts/things you bring in need to have a 'Made in U.S.A' sticker/stamp whateva on it to be free of duty otherwise you still have to pay duty on it :(
