EOI: Jaycar Boost Controller $170 - Brisbane

Post by boosterboy »

If anyone is interested in a complete Boost Controller with handcontroller I am looking into pricing for a group buy. I am in Brisbane but due to the size of kits I can ship interstate no worries for about $5-6.00 through work.
Digital Pulse Adjuster
Ref: High Performance Electronic Projects for Cars - Silicon Chip Publications.
This unit is another huge step up in DIY automotive performance upgrades. It allows you to control and tune the operation of any solenoid that is run by the engine management system. This means that you could control turbo boost without an expensive boost controller, or alter automatic transmission line pressures for better shifts. Alternatively, it can be used to drive and control an extra fuel injector. Additional fuel injectors are commonly tapped into the throttle body to stop critical lean out under high load, high boost conditions. You can now add the injector with +/- 127 step mapping at 128 different duty cycle points. This allows superior fuel control, previously achieved only with an expensive fuel management system. Kit supplied with PCB, machined case, and all electronic components. Kit requires the Handheld Digital Controller - KC-5386.
Ref: High Performance Electronic Projects for Cars - Silicon Chip Publications.
This hand controller is used for the mapping/programming of both Digital Adjuster kits. It features a two line LCD, and easy to use pushbuttons. It can be used to program the adjusters then removed, or left permanently connected to display the adjuster’s operation. It is designed as an interface and display, and is not required for general adjuster functions after they have been programmed. If you have built and installed multiple adjuster kits, you will only need one controller to program, unless you want permanent displays for each adjuster function. Kit supplied with silk screened and machined case, PCB, LCD, and all electronic components.
Requires RS232 Connecting Computer Lead

You get a case and a bag of components in these kits you need to solder them together yourself, plus you need a $9.55 cable to connect the two together.

If you can solder and you're interested I am simply trying to get 5 people interested and then price drops to $135 in parts including cable + $5 postage and $25 to assemble plus post so probly $165 all up for a complete assembled kit, if I can get a group buy of 5 or more people.

If you are considering the fuel adjuster kit also, note the handcontroller can be switched between the two with a separate interface I can get from an electronics shop. Two modules with one hand controller. Complete package would be around $250.

These units adapt to any car as stated above.

I forgot to add that any solenoid will work to control boost. I use an LPG fuel lock plumbed into the stock turbo wastegate hose. These will add approximately $25 - 30 depending on where you buy it. I'm trying to organise a bulk buy to drop the price considerably. I have to goyen solenoids.
