LOL I'm not the burnout/drift type of guy either so it's ok with me :wink:

I've taken those same squares in town in a rwd and it didn't feel right, I know a RWD with power would have to regulate the pedal a lot more than a FWD with the same amount of power because the wheels at the front are generally in the direction of travel rather than the rears so if they break grip, then you don't have to deal with that and the steering effects where as you only have to clutch in or back off the pedal in a FWD.....hope that helps you'se understand.

adelaide is a fair while from where i am..

while you are navigating (read: battling understeer.. taking time) ill be oversteering the roundabout (read: smoking the rears) near grand cinemas ;)

advantage you have is your car being 235kg lighter than a starion - dont forget it baby! and yes this has a lot to do with handling

tell me why the lancer ex turbo (staz motor, just over a ton as well wit rwd) does the quarter mile quicker than a cordia!

im not taking the mickey, just setting things straight... :D

hmm well it is standard 2.0L over the Cordia 1.8L right ?

Okay then, Gadget or Decoy will have to do and yes I know 200Kg has a huge effect on braking.......was hoping you didn't notice that :D

Good to see you taking the flack with good humour Toys.

I do envy the easy VR4 conversion though. If it was as straight forward for starions I guarantee there would be more getting around.

Starions are great cars, It's good owning a car that gets recognition from older people too, mainly older people at that (coming from an 18 yo).

Personally I'm a RWD fan, FWD has to many cons for my liking, I've never really liked the west/east engine setup.

If you really want to tap something and not imagine 'stazzbabyyeah' doing it with the guys wife :wtf: then get off the computer you GEEEEEEKS and out there into the real world :D

Anyhow, finally getting my DASH Injectors sorted so I can run 2x1350cc in the TBI set-up, enough fuel for my 500Hp at the flywheel fantasy with Water/Methanol/Nitromethane Injection :P

I think the whole Starion status thing has come full cycle. Starion cred is on the rise, just like what has happened to other cars like Datto 1600s. I used to get the whole 'I used to own one of these' stories from people who saw the car, and most of the time, they had rather fond memories of the car.

With regard to the whole RWD vs. FWD thing. I've been very pro RWD in the past, but I've seen too many examples of FWD doing just as well, if not better in certain circumstances. Just look at rally results to see that on the odd occasion, a FWD car will stick it up the 4WD cars. If you look at results in club motorsport khanacross, you'll often see sh*tbox KA Lasers finish ahead of many RWD cars too. They're not as fun to drive, they're far less interesting to watch, but you can't argue with results.

It is true that RWD is theoretically better, but it takes more skill to extract that advantage, and many people will be able to extract as much performance from FWD as its much easier to drive. All things being equal, RWD is better, but the difference isn't as great as you may think. The given setup and driver has far more influence than which end the power is being put down from. I have a lot more respect for FWD these days.
stiff springs on the rear will not change the weight transfer on a car. Best way of thinking of this is what would happen if you stood on a scale once with a normal spring and once with a stiffer spring, assuming the spring weight is the same, they are gonna read exactly the same.
CussCuss, I like your Integra Type R example, but had to comment on your statement above. Yes it will under dynamic cornering. Its like falling on a soft pillow or falling on hard concrete. Same weight, but the time over which you exert the force is what is important. The important factors for grip are that the co-efficient of friction isn't constant over load (it gets less with more load) and that static friction is higher than dynamic friction. If you wear shoes on a ice rink, we walk gently and transfer load slowly. We don't stamp our feet to get more grip.

the only way to get the nose of a cordia around a bend quick enough is to power into the turn then lift off the throttle let the tail come around then floor it out of the turn, the RWD is the opposite you power into the turn and through it and out of it, who wins...
