Removing keyholes

Post by Junkers »

What's involved to get rid of your key holes, is it costly?
Doesn't sound like it would be?

if you dont need to get into your car afterwards, not allot, if you do, keyless entry with central locking, pretty much illegal as emergency crews have no way to open your door incase of emergency. (well thats their reasoning why)

no, thats incorrect, its perfectly legal not to have keyholes, it is illegal not to have door handles... :) and yeah, very little involved, altho central remote locking is a good idea if you want to get into your car any way other then through the boot :)

lets go smoke cats now we know for sure. :)

Remove lock, weld plate in behind hole, use body filler to smooth, paint. Your car already has keyless entry installed dosent it?

you could remove the lock and if the central locking stoped working you could always get in through the boot

it might sound stupid but it would work

Its good for looks, but if you are concerned about security, a 3 pack of Solex locks are like $130. Nobody be screwdrivering them bitches.

i took my locks out a few months back.. and yeah going in the back works a treat when the battery goes flat.. have been there before

even if ur going for security by taking them out, u might as well kill two birds with one stone and go for looks too and get rid of the locks all together rather than going for the solex locks

Yea it's already got it, but I'm getting a new 2 way alarm put in (with remote start  ) and one of the doors replaced so i mayaswell get the locks taken off and go for the looks to add to it.

Isn't remote start only legal here on cars with auto transmission?

Nope, but they will be introducing laws that say it needs to be wired through a switch on the handbrake, or a switch when in gear, which is really the way it should be.

Yea i was speaking with the auto sparkies and they said that you can get failed on a warrant without one, But just to make it as discrete as possible because they won't know.

I have to ask though.. if you have a turbo timer, whats the chances of leaving it in gear, i don't sit in my car very often and play with my gear stick while the engine is off.

Well some retard managed it, whole thing came about because a lady got run over by a starter motor :S

Also when you are parked on a hill, after the engine is shut off, many people put their car in gear to stop it rolling down the hill if the handbrake fails. If they forget they did that, hit Start, uh oh...

Not a bad idea that, I had to chase my Fairmont down a hill once. Got to it before it hit the van tho.
