What happens when you pull the indicator/wiper switch towards you?
Or better yet what is meant to happen?
My guess is you get the headlights turn on, they pop up turn off then fall down again?
Well thats what my old car used to do.
My new one only lights up the ground under the car. cool effect in its self but both Decoy and I dont get them to come up.
Is it just a simple relay/fuse problem or are all models berfore a certain date meant to do this?(light up ground only)
My lights work normally with power switch just cant get them to do a quick flash.

yeah they should popup go on and stay on until you release the lever, then they turn off and after a second they go back down.
when it does this I belive they light up in high-beam mode.
mine does this.

Yes, it just needs to connect the high beam and headlamp power lines with two relays, or one with a double switch.
My 85 definately did it. Havent tried it on the 82. Most cars in general have it. Its for signalling other drivers - and I know in this country its used 90% of the time to warn oncoming traffic about nearby police officers. The other 10% is normally a small child or similar lodged in your front air damn.

'83 model JA and JB/JD were fitted with 2 extra relays, which are shown as one "PASSING RELAY" on the wireing diagrams.
part of this relay function seems to be in the center console, somewhere near the drivers left knee. the other part is in the engine bay, near the battery (i think!). this is the bit that sometimes fails, thus causing the popups to stay up, for those who have/had this problem.
