Powdercoating JB mags

Post by TD05 »

I need opinions on this, and I'm thinking a pearl silver, or pearl grey, nothing too flashy more like a restorationb job.... any thoughts

I had the centres of my mags done not long ago, pretty close match to the rest of the rim and they have a silvery fleck through them (Dulux Citi Pearl I think it is.) Dulux powdercoat site will also give you more info. It will be awkward to keep the silver outer ring though, unless they mask it and be prepared to polish/remove overcoat and rough edges. Should come up trumps though and look fairly good.

I will be going with polished. Its not too pricey, looks nice, and everyone seems to like the look of polished.

I guess Id have to see it to really judge on powdercoating silver pearls etc. But you have to be careful, make sure it comes out looking like a sexy restoration and not tacky boy racer - sometimes it can be a fine line.

I think it was Dulux Citi Pearl the one I liked, I was thinking of doing the whole mag and forget the silver ring, but now that you mention it, hmmm
shit I don't know anymore... I can just mask it I suppose.. btw how does that colour (Dulux Citi Pearl) look ??

What the colour looks like up close on an overcast day. Flat silver colour on the rims.

Its a pro job. The part to be coated is statically charged and then coated, then its baked. They would tape over your area thet you wanted left uncoloured.

What he said.

They have to use a high temperature tape as well and it's not very cheap. May be easier just to spray black with a can?
