valve stem seals

Post by Starion VR4 »

The way you descride the smoke is execally what happened to mine, it wasn't the valve stem seals, the exhaust oil seal in turbo was the problem, the seal ring in the housing had worn suffeciently to leak. had MTQ machine housing for bigger seal and then assembled it . Fixed. valve stem seals only leak at high vaccum EG 25-40 InHg, at idle you will be lucky to have 14 inHg of vaccum, old test was to drive at speed up a hill then coast down the other side in gear, once you opened the throttle down the bottom and blue smoke plume came out it was the valve stem seals. 8)
