The GrpA motor does a similar jump when it gets up on the cam, which is between 3500-4000 but the power doesn't stop till 7500. I imagine Kon's car would be a bit of a handful trying to keep it up on the powerband!

Don't have a dyno sheet to post! Last time the car was on a dyno it tried to shred the tyres at 4500 rpm trying to tune it, (old tyres are crap!) then we tried 5000rpm with me sitting in the back and there were rooster tails of rubber flying everywhere, so we decided to give up at that point :wtf:

Yes that power curve not exactly ideal for circuit work.

Kon's car has ~50HP under 3500 but doubles its power from 4000 to 5000 rpm, adding a further 70 HP to 6000. Definitely would be fun to drive and keep it in its power band.

Another interesting figure is its average power (from 3500-6500) which is approx. 200rwhp.

mrb1, your average HP from 3500-6500 is approx. 200HP, despite only having a peak 245hp figure. So a very widespread range of power and delivery. Peak power isn't what its all about.

cheers for the kind words david. Yeah i did see your engine at chris's place.  damn nice setup, awesome job. I hope that you'll be happy with it. I know i sure would.
Personally i don't see the point on all the bitchin, each to his own, we all have a common interest. The starion.
Mr Flav is a top bloke, great when it comes to starions, and those hard to find parts in top condition. Cheers again Mr Flav for all of the awesome work perfomed. Shall we take it along to calder?? Oh and i'm off to shepparton to pick up my new rear spoiler. sorry for being a lil off topic.

Well, calder is looking good, but i still have a fair chunk of work to perform!
All the bits for the ralliart car are here and i even got my other stazz back today with the dash in it...however the nice client i lent it to has fried the turbo. So im hoping one i have bought this week will make it here in time to be pulled apart and modded and slapped on the dash! This is a quick car but launching it will be a drama as she smoooooookes up the wheels in a big way! Rodger is busting my balls to get slicks on it but i think that would be beside the point, i would like to see what it runs in full street trim.
Are you running your weapon Mr.D? Im hoping chris with AVOJET is coming as i would like to run a pass with him and one with the ralliart car as well. Heres hoping we dont blow anything up! Im not a big drag racer so throw all your tips at a quick launch at me...and i have no spare diffs left!!!! Come get your overflow bottle Mr.D. i have just removed one you can have!

aaaaah MR Flav, i've yet to come over, i missed the meet as i had to work late. Thus missing the event. Did you make it out?? if you are running against AVOJET, i think you'll take the win.
My car would be no good as it appears the seals in turbo are just about gone, doesn't like to idle, bit smokey after a lil burst. :x
Oh well, i have heaps of over time in the coming weeks ie no days off for 2 weeks straight, i save some $$, drop the car off and discuss the plans.

Till then

Kons JA dyno sheet on Chris' website is very old and correct me if I'm wrong but, that dyno sheet was only a test and the car had very little boost (12psi)!? It has now been tuned and boosted and is running a lot more power atw now! Anyone back this up? I haven't spoke to Chris in a while! Also Davidbek, Chris is building a VERY similar engine for me too... watch this space!!!

Mate, I have a massive wheelspin problem at the mo.. so if i hook it up half decent we should be in the 13's.... but i doubt we are going to be able unless we get slicks and soften the bump and go 90/10 on the fronts.. but then that makes it towards a drag car and i want to keep it a street car. So all Im prepared to do is lower the tyre pressures and do some launch practice. Im gonna wait till AVOJET goes down there and a few others and see how we line up. We should make a date for a bunch of us to go.

you can run well beyond 13's without changing any of the factory suspension settings.
