Burnouts in turboed cars

hey guys a few mates have been telling me not to get a turbo car simply because when you do a burn out the spindals in the turbo break n find there way into your engine so then ur stuffed :o . has anyone had this happen to them or know if anything stuff's up when u hit boost on a burnout???? or if anything can stuff up if u do continous burnouts? besides the usual stuff like clutch n gearbox

tell your mates to go to the drags next time and see how many turbo cars do burn outs that'd bring tears to your eyes, not from the emotional experience but from the smoke... seriously I don't think doing burn outs will do damage to the turbo, do you know 'floorit' by any chance??

burnout smoke i can handle, however, if the car is running methanol THEN you will be crying, isnt that right camotec.

to answer the question, no, they are full of shit.

This is true Cuss Cuss,

We both almost died from Methanol fumes coming from a ute doing a burnout infront of us. Mind you the ute was about 10cm from us. hehe

I have seen a nissan spit it's ceramic turbine wheel (or pieces of it) through it's exhaust pipe (it was a skyline GTR) while doing a burnout. Otherwise on a non ceramic turbo , if the compressor wheel let go then it indicated a faulty turbo , and could have done it while doing a burnout or just by cruising along. Doing burnouts will show any faults in your turbo in a real hurry , though cause it does stress the turbo.

think about it

Is there more load on a turbo doing burn outs than running boost at speed
prob not ( doing a burnout is your foot flat cos it would be at 250 Ks )

your mates are having a lend of you

That's why you use an intercooler. It acts as a filter to stop any bits off the turbo flowing into your engine if the turbo disintegrates. ;)

So if you put a bigger turbo on you need a bigger intercoller to catch more bits

Yes, that is why I have a big turbo and huge cooler. I even catch speed humps and low flying birds.

yeah the ceramic turbine t25-t28's arnt meant to be boosted over like 12-14 psi, or they do that....age doesnt help them either...
