Speakers in Dash

Post by Chris 83JA »

How big are the standard JA speakers in the dash?
Is it possible to fit some 4"ers in there?

While i'm at it, how much room is there around the standard rear speakers?

Thanks,
Chris

4" will fit in the dash fine, but you'd be better off putting them in the doors. Rears will take 5.5-6" I think.

If you really want to if you look at your back seat and the pieces on the side's if you pull them off they have spots for speakers. dont ask me why they are there they just are. Will prob fit 6" or bigger

6" front and rear

However you can squeze 6.5" in there with a squeeze but only two screw holes line up in the rear, and you have to remove the speaker cover built in to the front doors.

In my Starion I had the issue of when volume went up, my tiny 4" Starion 10W babies inside the dashboard manually kicked in. These little ones also make the 'beeep' tunes. So ended up running seperate leads to the door speakers and leaving the small ones in the dash connected.

hmm, no door speakers for me..

I bought some 6" JL audio speakers now, so i'll scrap the idea of the dash speakers.. the right one is too obscured anyway.
I'll just have to mangle my door trim

Good to see you bought decent speakers, I use JL subs and they are very good gear :)

Your best bet is to build a wooden panel along the bottom of the door, or for a pro look you can buy pre made pods that bolt to the door and hide the speakers nicly. Look great too
