Starion Prices
Im looking at getting a starion that needs to have had some serious work done to it, it needs at least 200kw at the wheels with an LSD, and immaculate interiour exteriour.
$8000 do you guys recon will buy it?
Because i just got a new job and all the money i make minus living expenses will be saved ($400 a week)
The car has to be fully street legal with any aftermarket mods regency approved.... So starion fans, lovers, long-term relationship holders.
Can it be done?

I reckon you should come close to finding everything you want for $8K. It's a bloody smart way to get the staz of your dreams rather than doing all the mods & spending the $$ yourself on a cheaper unit.
Remember to wait & be patient to find the one you want. It may take 6 months or more of searching & be prepared to travel interstate to look at likely units.

I agree, double it. there was a very nice yellow JA/JB with a twin cam that fitted that description that was sold last year for close to double that. The guy that built it spent $50K on it. If you dropped the "at least 200rwkw bit" you might come close.

Well here are some numbers -
Base car (good straight rust free) - $3,000
Motor rebuilt to suit (forgies and all) - $4,000
LSD (if you can get one) - $1,000
Computer $2,000
Turbo (Garret of some desc) - $1,500
Interior redone - $2,000
Suspension, brakes, wheels, tyres (to keep the thing on the road) - $2500
Thats $16,000 before repair and replacing all the myriad bits and pieces along the way.
You might luck out and buy one alreasy done for less than $10K but you'd be lucky and I doubt it would be 200kw atw. That number costs big dollars. $150kw atw is reasonably inexpensive.
Not wanting to argue I just dont think yu could do it for $8K so it stops the dream before it becomes a nightmare.

Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.
yes, that is a reasonable and achievable target.Gutter_Rat wrote:hmm...
well im over this doing up cars crap.
i want a nice car thats already had the work done....
how much would i be looking at for an immaculate one with a slightly done up engine? im happy to import a LSD...
the thing has to be immac inside and out.. is that achieveable for $8000?

Well i know a guy who recently got a nice staz with a worked motor (runs at one bar) and its got a half decent interiour, i think the front seats were retrimmed, and it was resprayed Ferarri red or some crap. He is in SA if the old owner comes in here. He paid something close to $5000 for it.
His car is alright except for the stupid digital dash that was put in it.
I will get a staz for $8000!
even if the engine is stock i will get it worked with a DOHC converstion, etc.
hell there was a very nice GSR-VR in a car yard not that long ago for $4000 and it was pretty immac. I wanted it but didnt have the cash.
most of you did not outlay $8000 for your starions. I know i want preformance and I will get it one way or another, but to start with i want a perfect base, engine doesnt bother me as long as its not fucked.

I'd like a Widebody but i wouldnt be game to import it. Especially at the moment.
I cant buy the GSR, it is long gone now :'(
I will find a slim staz thats nice for that, i wish i could get a widebody :'(

Good luck. Won't be easy as there aren't that many JD's. If you do get one (or even a JA/B), don't forget to add it onto the Starion registry :D
