How to boost JA with intercooler to 12psi

Post by Drift »

Hey guys i got a JA starion with intercooler but even with boost controller cant get it past 6psi (tried 3 different types including turbosmart and bleedvalve .... it dosnt seem to go past 6 psi what ever i do... I have 2 boost guages so i suppose one must be right as both read same level.
Is this a limit on the ecu (maybe need to be chipped or something)?
Thanks for any help

Factory boost is higher than that. ECU wont be a problem until around 13psi on average I think.

Possibly your wastegate has jammed open??

there could be 2 problems 1:you have a bad waste gate stuck open 2:you have a cranck waste gate on your turbo and you have to fix your turbo.

The wastgate may be partially open, if it was fully open you'd get minimal boost. How is the bleed valve or whatever plumbed in?

The wastegate lever is located directly down from the turbo when you look in from the drivers side. Look down, you will see a thin rod, LHS end connects to a lever (wastegate) and the other end goes into a round tin, under the front of the turbo (actuator) From memory, the lever should be vertical, and points downwards.
Where are you located?

I took it to mechanic and he said he replumbed it.. I had a bleed valve that was building up too much pressure or something that stopped something from allowing enough boost.
As you can probably tell i didnt really understand what he said.
Now i am just running a turbosmart boost controller. I am using 10psi.
Ill try find out what it was and post it here.
