Sorry Guys, i don't get on the net as much anymore since my leg got better!! ............ Anyways, yeah its an Auto (Overdrive 'n' all), 87 model JE for sure (On compliance/engineers papers) and thats his old JA bonnet (He still has the original smooth/flat one). Yeah i thought they only went up to JD, until i seen his, and then i remembered starions went all the way up to 1990. It's a pretty darn Rare beast as they only released this exact full luxury model in 87 & 89. There were earlier GSR-V model avalible, but not quite like this one (More photo's avalible). Awesome cruiser 'ey? Maybe a potential Auto drift pig aswell?? Hehe :)

AFAIK there are only the 2 chassis codes, A183 for narrow, and A187 for wide.

Negative, my wide is A183. I suspect that number identifies 2L / 2.6L?

Also, my vin starts with JM, so does that make it a JM starion? No, JA/JB/JD are Aussie spec things.

Also when I went to Repco, they asked if my Starion was the A182, A183 or A187 chassis. Judging by what was said, and the discussion we had, some of the very early Starions were stamped A182 (perhaps the solid axle non-turbo or something)

The JDM model 82 and my JDM 85 I have here, are both A183.

Yeah, a quick google gives me this:

Mitsubishi Starion 2.0 (A182) 1997cc 215 82-84
Mitsubishi Starion 2.0 Turbo (A183) 1997cc 225 82-89

at the bottom of http://www.webparts.co.uk/National/Buyg ... HD0006.HTM

Which would suggest that the "gimp starion" is A182. Case closed.
