SAFCs
Do SAFCs work on Starion/Cordia motors? I've heard two different arguments.
1. They wont work on throttle body injection motors, with only two injectors.
2. They will work because all it needs in an AFM and a MAP sensor and it will be happy.
Can anyone confirm or deny?

safc controls the air and fuel ratios. mainly the fuel, from what i understand it tricks the computer into running more/less fuel.
s-afc thats an apexi item isn't
i want to get one for my starion but don't know if there worth it
ant users experiances with these devices?

The SAFCII does not interfere with the injectors. Whether your car has two injectors, or 50, it makes no difference to the SAFC II.
All it does is take the signal from your airflow meter (yes its supports Karman Vortex), modifies it by the percentage, and sends result to ECU. Basically it lies to the ECU, telling it has less or more air coming in than there really is.
So whoever said it wouldn't work on TBI, Id like to hear what their reasons were. Because it doesn't alter the signal between the ECU and injectors, it alters it between the AFM and ECU.
Remember tho, the ECU will still cut if the injector duty is too high, SAFC will not and can not remove this cut.

-> Apexi S-AFC - has knobs etc
-> Apexi S-AFC - digital with arrows
-> Apexi S-AFCII - digital with circle button
The knobs one is very inacurate, does not take throttle readings in to consideration, and lots of other things. The digital models are pretty sweet though, altho 2nd hand price still seems to be 300-400.

I'm not sure on all models but on my '83 2000 ex (same as a JA) there is both a MAP and a MAF signal
it uses the MAF(karman) for off boost and the MAP for On boost to determine how much to inject
I don't think you can wire the S-afc in between both sensors at the same time.
So you may have to try tofind out how it would work best
In between the MAF or inbetween the MAP.

Spiders: Thats exactly how I understood it, but this guy who told me (will remain nameless) just made me think twice.
As for which sensor to hook it up to, I'm pretty sure it has to be the AFM, because even on boost, the ECU will be using its signal in conjuntion with the MAP...AFAIK.
