Main caps
dont change the main caps from one block to another, they are machined as a set! If you change them YOU WILL HAVE TO GET THE BLOCK LINEBORED!!!!! APPROX $150-200, I AM A ENGINE RECONDITIONER, TRUST ME!

30PSI,2.4L! Wolf 3D Ver 4. VR4 Head.
You took the words clean out my mouth. Ounce the dummie engine is finished that is what i am planning to do.I was expecting to pay more so hopefully i can get it done for $150. Worked out i can use the Staz
water pump today with a bit of a grind and welsh plug in rear outlet .
Other troubles i have come across is the Staz crank pulley needs the centre hole machined out a couple of mm to bolt up to the crank timing
gear cog. Also the Alternator does'nt fit on the block anymore as
the hyundai timing cover is thicker. The water pump also needs a spacer
put behind the pulley so they line up correctly. Seems like most of the pain is outside the motor. I got all that sorted today. Now onto the pain
of making custom intercooler piping and a custom exhaust manifold to
mount the T04B. Then rip it all out rebuild and paint and off to the tuners.
I still can't get over how big the ports are.

The Astron 2.6 is a completely different engine family, no way. The 4G63 VR4 DOHC 4 valve was developed from the 4G63 8 valve SOHC so that's why things mostly fit. Hyundai manufacture Mitsubishi engines under license including the VR4 style engine although only the normally asperated version like used in the Galant GSR FWD (although now they mostly have there own engines, quick learners these guys). They made this engine in 1.8 and 2.0 litre.nomis wrote:this sorta convertion wouldnt work for the 2,6 would it?
Maybe there was a 2.4 DOHC as well not sure, they did an 2.4 8 valve SOHC.
Well the head swap has worked ok.
Seems like the head is the same as the Mitsu item and combustion
chamber cc's are same as VR4. Engine runs fine apart from some tunning issues. If you are going to do the head swap let me know if i can help
with info. The Hyundai head was cheap but you have to buy the hole
motor. I also removed balance shafts aswell.
Ok on to next the level of this conversion and that is to swap cranks
from a Hyundai 2.4 .

If someone will host the pics as i have no were and wouldn't have a
clue on how to. My car is slightly different to norm but engine gearbox
wise it is the same. I also have heaps of info so if your into tech
articles let me know and you can write one for the group.
My only problem at the moment is getting the Wolf V4 to read
the friggin Cam angle sensor :(
