pipe dreams

Post by tri26t »

hi guys, has anyone made a cross over pipe from turbo to Tbi,that
gives their Staz more power or some improvement
I was just thinking that because the pipe is so short you may as well
up the size Hmmmmmm to maybe a full 2 1/2" and not invite lag.
cheers ; phil

What I would do is fit a FMIC, but you could go a bigger cross over pipe, although i dun't think it will make much difference as it is match sized with the turbo outlet and the TB inlet size.

You could make a new cross over pipe and installed that Cryo2 gear, but the cost to install is prolly about the same for a decent cooler.

Cheers

my thought was that the original cross over pipe was trumpetted
to discourage lag (in the most limited of ways)
but with a bigger pipe, it would have to fill up slower, would`nt it ??????

my staz is stock, if not for 3" turbo back exhaust, fuel cut defender
and boost tap so whats the next power upgrade without fmic ????.

FMIC!! lol
either that or multipoint but multipoint is even more expensive as you will need an aftermarket computer and have it tuned etc. not to mention the parts for multipoint.

Cheapest most beneficial upgrade to you would be a FMIC and then go a bigger turbo.

I am at that bigger turbo stage. ;)

I also have FMIC I got like a year ago but the way
the piping has to go looks ("freak show") at best, so
Im cutting the inlet (TBI) at 45 degrees facing forwards
to see if I can get a better looking angle,
I also have brand new 4g54 magna block and seirra cosworth
turbo, rear, buick lagrande comp,,TO3/4 and I know that will
hook up big time.
Still theres gotta be something I can do to get this motor going ?

Chris (chef) was working on rotating the TBI to face the front. considering he's selling up it might be worthwhile grabbing his or at least asking him how to do it?

the lancer guys in england use an adaptor plate to rotate their ECI, apparently cutting and moving the inlet has been tried but the airflow messes up the injector fuel flow resulting in poor driveability.

try putting up a question on the link below to find out more:

http://www.lancerregister.com/forumdisp ... forumid=31

the EX2000 lancer's run the same motor as the starions so everything should relate (well, the 8 valve starions anyway)
project 1: 1976 TA23 Celica
project 2: 1981 EX Lancer, SOHC 4G63T conversion, heaps of turbo lancer bits, running, but fixing the diff at the moment :D

oh no Ive already cut my spare TBI, but I can see
how the air will run round the back of the injectors
so i`ll have to put a devider plate in line with the center
of the injectors, Ive polished the entire internals of the TBI
and feel it cant be hard to figure the divider.
My next thing will be the manifold, hhmmmm ,about 4 hours
polishing the internals of the manifold.
Has anyone done match porting on these heads ?
all your info been good shit so far, thanks.
hey Ive just seen a Nissan CA18 top mount water to air intercooler cut down and used as a croos over pipe, GONNA have to watch this one.
