Immaculate JB Starion For Sale $3900

What Starion007 didn't mention is that he offered me $3900 in Melbourne when we had agreed by telephone to negotiate (from the advertised price of $4900 at the time) to the low 4000s, then he offered me $3900 again provided that I drive the car to Sydney, which offer I rejected. Me driving the car to Sydney is not included in the price. It seems Starion007 has sour grapes in his disappointment at missing out on the car, which is understandable (I think we all know what it feels like to miss out on a car) but what I don't understand or appreciate is that he has attempted to hijack my ad out of spite, which is rather sad and also against the spirit of this forum.

The car is in immaculate condition, and evidence of this is in the photos. Proof of the car being worth the asking price is in Starion007's offer of that price (even with the exaggerations he makes about the car's "problems").

The car does require new rear shockers for a RWC, and I have made no secret of this to those who have contacted me about the car. The car certainly does come on boost, but has an occasional "miss" at high boost. The mechanic who tested the car for the RWC two weeks ago described the car as "immaculate", and that is the word I have used to describe it. He also said he has never seen a 20 year-old car in that condition, and said that the car is in the condition of a 2000 model car. The car is not brand new, and that is clearly what Starion007 is comparing it to, nevertheless he obviously agrees it is worth what I am asking.

The door trim is in perfect condition aside from some minor cracking in the driver's side arm rest in an isolated spot. If I still have the car in a few days' time (some people are coming to see it this week) I'll post a photo to show you, just for the record.

It looks like the new owner will keep the car in Queensland at this stage, and I hope he joins this forum so he can share with other Starion lovers his enjoyment of my old car. The car has served me reliably for the last 10 years, and also my uncle for the 10 years before that. I'm sure it will do the same for the new owner too.

I must say, if i was in Australia i'd be considering buying that car, looks fantastic, i love the colour, and the interior colour.

I agree that I did ask you to drive the Starion to Sydney but if you recall correctly this was 2 weeks after you made me drive to Melbourne to inspect your "IMMACULATE" JB and rejected my offer of $3900. You subsequently advertised the car for $3900 on the net and I contacted you to say the offer was still open if you would drive it to Sydney. YOU AGREED TO DROP THE CAR OFF IN SYDNEY LAST THURSDAY . WE HAD A DEAL which is why I posted a WTB on this forum looking for a drivers side door trim.
You are right I am Pi#$@d off with your actions because we had a DEAL and you SNAKED me.
STOP WASTING PEOPLES TIME AND MONEY WHILST TRYING TO FILL YOUR POCKETS.
This forum is for people who enjoy their Starions and if you Join I believe we are entitled to a little HONESTY regarding what you are selling .

Indeed the car has JA wheels. I remember when my uncle bought the car new it was one of the first JB's in Australia and was delivered with JA wheels (and a JA driver's manual!).

Starion007, please don't get your panties in a knot. Sour grapes indeed! I never agreed to driving the car to Sydney as I believe it is the responsibility of the purchaser to pick up the car. It is a shame for you that your original offer was short of what we had agreed on the phone prior to you leaving for Melbourne. That's your problem, not mine.

Since then, I had the car tested for the RWC and was advised by the mechanic that the car requires new rear shockers for the RWC, hence the $1,000 reduction in asking price. I see that as fair, and so does the buyer.

Thanks for your amusing banter too, I intend to provide the buyer with a printout of our little exchange which will no doubt add to the history of the vehicle in years to come! Hehe...

I hope you find a brand new Starion kept in cotton wool somewhere one day - who knows, maybe there is one (bliteus belua es)!

Still haven't answered my question!? Was this car crashed? I've heard rumors that the engine bay has been resprayed!? I was also looking at this car a while back, but you were at a wedding or something!?

Hi Chunkhead,

Sorry for the delay in answering your query. The only accident the car has been in was when it was being serviced by Mitsubishi in 1994 and they didn't put the handbrake on hard enough! The car rolled forward and the front corner (I think it was the left-hand corner) hit a pole. Mitsubishi were very embarrassed. Not only did they fix up the front corner, they also resprayed the whole car (in the original colour) in order to make amends with my uncle, who was quite pleased with the end result.

Dear Starion007,

It is with much amusement that I've read the series of comments from yourself to StarionJB84 but how about taking small steps to improving your outlook here, how about getting the basics right!

The car is in immaculate condition given its age. Its certaining rare to find a stock vehicle when most 80's icons are completely thrashed out and over-customised.

Clearly the purchaser has a responsibility to pickup the car from the seller. Your condition, requiring the seller to transport the vehicle to Sydney is totally unacceptable. Most people will recognise this as an unusual request.

Its clear to me that StarionJB84 has an excellent grip on this cars heritage, evidenced by the detail he can provide on the servicing and original purchase.

It also seems that the seller has been reasonable in their negotiations throughout the process, reducing the cost and advising of the work to be done in the rear-end.

Take it easy man.

I personally saw the Starion in question and also thought it was in immaculate condition.
You should not try to dis-credit StarionJB84. I would have paid $4000.00 for it but opted for a Sigma GSR (another high quality Mitsubishi vehicle).

And the use of unjustified insults (cavaet emptor) was unnecessary.

The definition of immaculate according to the websters dictionary is :- Having no stain or blemish - containing no flaw or error.

If you read this string from the begining you will see that my initial comments on the vehicle were purely in regards to the condition of the vehicle and as you can read STARIONJB84 has in fact agreed with me on some of these points.

My intention was not to discredit STARIONJB84 but to merely to provide honest comment on the vehicle for sale. For this I was accused of being a dodgey used car dealer.

With regards to delivering the car to Sydney I believe that my offer was upto STARIONJB84 to accept or reject. IT was accepted and then after a week was renegged on.
