i thought steering locks didnt work until you took the keys right out of the ignition?

Well he probably knocked the keys out then didn't he!?
I dont remember reading that but I guess it makes sense. I am not hunting through all my mags just to find it

It shouldn't matter anymore nowadays as I have a turbo timer (Blitz FATT) and if the keys are not in the ignition, if you drop the handbrake the engine cuts anyways stopping anyone from driving it without keys.
Plus if the handbrake is not on the timer will not keep the engine alive.

Maybe they should have a rule that states you should get one of those if you have a timer?? they aren't an expensive item either.

Knock the keys out? To get the key out in a lancer you have to physically push the key in and turn it. If he really did that, then he deserved to crash, what a tool.

my old starion key was so knackered it would fly out of the ignition on a hard launch (heavy keyring). But no steering lock because the barrel has to be in the lock position, and the key removed.

do all 'modern' timers have that feature? or just the topend ones like blitz etc etc?

mine is just a real basic one... choice of 1,3 or 5 minutes and thats about it.... i wouldnt mind a better one.

same as my timer, its just hooked up to the wire that send the signal to the dash that your handbrake is on, and when its on, the timer gets power.

if you had a hard run and forget to pull the handbrake and switch off the motor, you'd cook the turbo, I'd stick with my timer, it's on all the time, handbrake or not, I'm forgetful sometimes. :roll:

I've been known to walk away from the car and no handbrake.... :shock:

It's an easy job Gadget - Cookie and I put one in the white car. I even managed to avoid breaking a nail LOL

Yes mine reads fine as well. Replace a nice electric gauge with an Autometer mechanical :(
I guess if you want it to read to a higher boost and have more graduations that's fair enough.
Anyhow the JA,JB one reads fine generally.

The reason it's a BIG deal in the US is that they have no MAP sensor. The boost signal for the gauge is calculated by the ECU from the airflow meter. This is ok so long as you don't change anything. However if you do it's absolutely way out.

How would you increase the boost a few PSI with the factory gauge, and know exactly what your boost level is? You wont.

I would rather a mechanical gauge any day over the electric, well for boost anyway. Not oil. :)

Hey Guys, just to let you know.

I put my autometer boost guage into my stock position and it took me all of 1 hour to do including the removal and reinstall (mind you i already had the vacuum line for the boost guage already routed behind the dash.
