I can do white numbers but not on a white face obviously :) Then you can use EL wire as suggested, or use globe covers or coloured leds to change the light colour.

Those strips of wire that glow blue, green, red etc

People put them in their computers to give them an internal glow etc instead of those neon tubes. Go to www.trademe.co.nz and search for 'EL Wire' and you'll see what I mean. They're 12V, and basically are just one very thin and long light bulb.

EL is an abbreviation for electro-luminescent. Most commonly used as backlighting for LCDs in everything from watches to stereos. It first came out as small panels (EL Panel). The advantage the EL had when it first came out (many moons ago) was that you could have a rectangular glowing panel without having to use globes and clever reflectors and stuff. Needs some tricky voltages, but nowadays that's all taken care of transparently.

The disadvantage is that it has a half-life (well it did back in the days when I was buggerising around with it, anyway). After x amount of time, the brightness would decrease by half. So after 2 x, the brightness is 1/4 of the original. Eventually it gets so dim that it needs to be replaced.

Yep.. (black sets are available from next week by the way).. :)

Clear gauges on the Starion wouldn't look so good - the gauges just aren't that pretty to look at :)

Low-gloss black faces are available now - can do with blue, red, orange or white backgrounds (or anything really)..

Also have more sets of white ready. I will make up a set of white/orange and post some pics soon.
