Something odd from my collection.........

Post by DD Phil »

Another item that I had made at great expense and haven't used!

It's a custom made bracket that re-locates the power steering pump to where the air-con compressor normally lives. It was made by Mark Barnes Engineering on the Gold Coast, they do lots of V8 Supercar work etc.

This gives a HEAP more space on the turbo side, obviously this means deleting the air-con, something I have done in my purple beast. I had this made to go along with my built 2lt, but now I have the V6 in the purple one. I'm putting the built 2lt into my new white JA (as soon as I get it back from Strion) but keeping the air-con.

Offers.....

Why did you decide to move the power steering pump and not the alternator?

Wouldn't it be easier to runs some wires for the alternator rather than new lines for the power steering?

Just a thought, either way, bye bye aircon.

Because the power steering pump was in the way, not the alt.

But you could then move the power steering down to where the alternator is... just a thought.

But why move 2 things, when you only really need to move one?

On a side note, thats where Dad's planning to put the supercharger... :P

I guess i would rather keep the power steering pump near the steering box.

I agree. Two wires are easier to relocate than two hoses.

ProZac, I love the idea of a super+turbocharged engine - best of both worlds :D

But your own avitar clearly demonstrates that the power steering is more in the way than the alternator!

Nothing clear about it. I am using a large TO4 on a modified standard manifold and I have managed to retain the p/s in the original location. If I wanted to make even more room, then I could simply relocate the p/s reservoir, not the p/s pump. It simply is not necessary. If I were to use a custom manifold then I could easily make one that will also clear everything in the engine bay.

The valid) point stands. It would be easier to lower the p/s pump to where the alternator is and then put the alternator where the aircon is. And then you will have no air con.

Great.

Remote reservoir is all you need... plenty of those at the wreckers.

Great.
But then you need to make two new sets of brackets, not one.

I think you missed the point. You dont even need to move the p/s pump. But anyway, good luck with the sale.

You don't NEED to move it, but it sure makes it prettier. The power steering pump is one ugly SOB. Sure you need new power steering lines, but who would honestly leave 22 year old power steering lines on a show/race car anyhow?

Perhaps someone else out there shares my vision. I want buger all for this, it just seems like a waste to bin it given what it cost me.
